Radeon 9500 NP Softmod Video Playback

I have a 9500NP that I softmodded into a 9700NP using omega's drivers. Got the checkers, so had to disable hierarchicalZ in the registry and was able to get rid of them.

Now, however, I get video playback anomolies. they aren't in all modes of play back, but happen once in awhile. The card is not overclocked. I've tried reducing the core/memory frequencies as well. All codecs are up to date too.

Any ideas? I know there are some other people experiencing the same thing in video play back (even in DVDs) so there has to be someone with some advice

Thanks.

could you please tell me how you disabled hierarchicalZ in the registry. my 9800se shows slight sign of checkerboarding in condition zero (all benchmarks run without any artifacts). thanks

"How do I disable Hierarchical-Z? I hear this solves the artifact problem for a small number of people.
A: OpenGL:

In your Registry find a folder called "OpenGL". Make sure you end up in the "CurrentControlSet" branch.
On my system: " HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentCo
ntrolSet\Control\Video\{17B35A74-5588-4595-A586-8C735F496DB2}\0000\OpenGL". Your ClassID will be different so use text search to find "OpenGL".
Add a folder "Private" under the "OpenGL" folder.
Add a DWORD value there called "An6aYj2vwKuKd9brxl7" with value "0".
Direct3D:

Find the OpenGL folder. Go to the "0000" folder above it.
Add a String value there called "HierarchicalZEnable" with value "0".
You can also try using RTool for exammple to disable Hierarchical-Z."

From Wizzard's site.

Getting back on topic, any one have any ideas about video playback. I know this is an issue with some people because I've seen requests for help but no answers.
