purple vertical lines??

every once in a while i get purple vertical lines on my screen when i boot up.

they do not appear until after the win xp logo, when i get to the logon screen.
they are kind of like wide(half inch) purple vertical lines spaced out every three inches or so on the screen.

i just reboot and the lines are gone.
it tends to happen after installing/upgrading video drivers.

any ideas?

Could be a software conflict happening somewhere. You might want to try a reformat and a clean install of everything.
