nice find. btw, its uses 8mm mini cds. Just saying it so people think its a big version. Dimensions: 3.6 inches x 4.7 inches x 1.1 inches

I have a similar (same size at least) Imation RipGO! mini CD mp3 player/burner. I don't use it too often because the mini CDs only hold ~210MB and even with VBR encoding it's only a couple of hours of music. It doesn't play mini CD-RWs, either. Maybe the Philips one does. But it is useful for burning data since it's so portable and connects via USB.

i used to have a mini mp3cd player. could cram about 4-5 albums at 128kbps.

how? 128kbps = 0.98MB/minute. The mini CDs only hold about 200MB, enough for around 3 hours of 128kbps music. Must be short albums (35-46 minutes each). :p

128kbit = 16kB
16kB * 60 sec/min = 960kB/min
960kB/min * 1MB/1000kB = 0.96MB/min
200MB/ (0.96MB/min) = 208.33 min

208.33 min / 4 albums = 52.08 min/album
208.33 min / 5 albums = 41.67 min/album

So actually more like 41-52 minutes each. :p

Quite reasonable. Especially considering there are often songs on the CDs that you don't like, and wouldn't want to burn onto the MP3 disc.

One problem with your logic: a 200MB mini CD (21 minute) isn't really 200MB, it's actually 177 million bytes (~169MB) = 176 minutes of 128Kbps music. :p

So again, the albums would have to be very short (35-46 minutes). I think even the Jar of Flies EP is longer than 35 minutes.

well, it depends cuz the capacity varies from company to company. TDK sells 185mb, fuji sells 210mb and so on. But either way, this is a good deal!:D

210MB = audio capacity, in the same way a 74min CD-R = "650MB" but is really a little over 600MB. Recording without ECC gives the extra space. It's a bad idea to do with a data disc (MP3), but works acceptably with regular audio discs (plus it has to in order to be compatible :p). There are normally just 21 (169MB) and 23 (185MB) minute 8cm CD-Rs. The 21 minute ones are by far more common. And it still doesn't change the length of the albums by much to fit 4-5 on a 8cm CD-R.

There are some "300MB" (35 minute?) 8cm CD-Rs, but I've never seem them for sale.

the 1/144 gundam model is just a reference for the size. I just wish it was a bit thinner.

I just bought one...was expecting something like 40 bucks total.
Total: 63.20.
CANCEL.

oh, just one thing to add, the battery life is HORRIBLE. It goes like 2-3 hours on a AA. What I dont understand is that the mini mp3 player says its low batt, but when I test it on other players, its still has a long way to go...
