i just got a new mobo/cpu combo (specs in sig)

now, the fsb runs at 200x4, effective 800 to produce a 2.6 clock speed

memory runs at 200x2, to produce an effective speed of 400mhz

is that the way it should be? or should the memory also be running at 200x4?

thx.

just wanted to add:

mem timings: 4-7-3-3-2

sandra scores:

int: 2954
float: 2962

as compared to another 865 running 2xpc3200 cl2:

int: 4888
float: 4884

also, sandra indicates:

fsb speed: 4x200
memory bus speed: 2x200

flip, what are the timings like in the bios?

also, could u post a bench score if u have sandra? im wondering why mine is so low? is it because im only running a single module?

thanks

You should be running dual channel (two sticks of RAM). You need dual channel DDR in order to match the P4 bus.

Yeah...Sorry about that. I forgot about the whole dual channel issue - which should be displayed on the POST screen when you hit DEL at the boot-up screen.

I'm running a gig of Hyper X at 2-3-2-6....

Don't forget to get a MATCHING (Brand, Chips, Size, and Speed) stick of RAM to ensure dual channel works correctly.

as soon as i boot up on the post it says something to the effect of

ddr frequency at 400, running in single channel or virtual single channel'

or something of that sort

so i suppose ill grab another stick of the memory i have, they can be had for cheap right now so thats good.

i just changed my timings to 7-3-3-2, i figure better than running 6-3-3-2 for now, til i get everything sorted out and whatnot

also, what did u set the dram burst length to, 4 clocks or 8 clocks?

manual says default is 4, so thats what i set it at, works fine.

i left idle timer at auto, and refresh mode at auto, as well as acceleration on auto (instead of enabled, since im not sure what it does exactly).
