on-board sound or SB Live! 5.1 - which would you choose?

okay, I'm getting all my ducks (and drivers ) in a row for when my new Shuttle XPC comes in the morning.

now, I have been hearing some on-board sound issues with that cases' setup and was wondering if it'd be better just to use an old SB Live! 5.1 card that I've had lying around since who knows when.

so my point is this, I know the SB Live! is old as dirt but I was wondering if there'd be any reason not to use it over the supposedily "modern" 6-channel on-board sound that comes on the 20th anniversary Shuttle I'm about to get.

I actually sold my sb live right after getting my nf7-s motherboard. It really depends on the manufacturer's implementation. Im pretty sure shuttle does a good job on onboard sound because it would definately be a negative if you were *required* to take up a precious pci slot.
