network help

Im trying to get my router working with windows XP but nothing is happening. I have a linksys and all the lights are lit and i even see a connection icon on my desktop but everytime i start up IE i cant go online. Can anyone help?

i have a BEFSR41 ver.2

also when i take my ethernet cord out the router and put it into my ethernet adapter it still doesnt work.But if i do the same thing and put the ethernet cord into my laptop it works.

have you logged into the router and set it up? My router has the wizard screen you can pull up in a browser, type in ip of the router. Then follow the instructions. If you connection requires a login and password (pppoe) then the router can log you in. Just needs to be setup that way.
