My Firewire DVD+RW shows up as removable drive?

And when I try to open a disc with it, it says "This disc is not formatted. Would you like to format it now"

Anyone have an idea as to how I can fix this?

Have you hit windows update?

How about getting the most recent driver version from the manufacturer?

Since it is external.... would it not be a removable drive? Don't know never owned one.

It should detect as just another optical drive.

It definately shouldn't ask him to format it.

It is actually a lite-on drive inside an external enclosure. Should I install drivers for the Lite-On or for the external controller?

Would jumper settings on the Lite-On matter?

I got it working. I changed the jumper to master and it works just fine.
