my friend has a stick of 256mb corsiar xms pc3500, said hed sell to me for $70
some checking on the net and it seems that corsair pc3500s were made with the famous BH-5 chips

1. can this be confirmed without removing the heat spreader?

2. is it worth 70usd?

I think v 1.1 and 1.0 were BH-5. 1.2 and higher were other chips IIRC
