Over this past weekend, I added a Samsung SP1614C SATA drive to my system. Here is the issue.
Whenever I have the SATA drive connected to the computer, with any IDE drive connected to the primary IDE ports, the computer runs extremely slow. When I remove the IDE HDD, the computer runs extremely fast.
Perhaps it is some setting in the BIOS? I set the SATA to Enhanced to allow for both SATA and IDE access, I tried enabling and disabling IDE Busmaster, and moving around HDDs, etc. I tried removing the IDE contollers and letting Windows detect them again. I checked Device Manager and the SATA drive is being read as UDMA 5, which is normal.
What could be the problem here?
