How to edit MS Start menu? Help

I have a lot of stuff inside my Start menu.

Can I just right click on the unwanted items (ie, start>All Programs> select file to delete) or will deleting files in there somehow hurt my programs?

Oh boy. Right click on your start button then go to explore. Unless you changed something, it should take you right to the dir where it keeps all your start menu items, and no, deleting it from the start menu won't remove itfrom your computer.
