Hercules 7.1 and Creative 7200 speakers

I have a Hercules For. 7.1 sound card and creative inspire 7.1 speakers but I can only get the speakers to work in a 5.1 enviroment. I cant get my rear speakers to work for anything i have tried. I have been lead to beleive that the hercules cards have issues like this on 6.1 and 7.1 creative speakers for some reason.
Has anyone had this issue or heard anything on it.

I had though about the media being played was the issue. I had then tried the speaker test through the hercules software and could not get any sound from the rear speakers at all. Everything else is perfect and great.
 
how many 3.5mm jacks do you have coming out of the speakers to plug into the sound card? i'm betting that you have 3. the audigy 2 zs has 3 3.5mm jacks. seeing as you have creative speakers, i assume it is the same setup.

on the audigy 2 zs, the 3 jacks are as follows:
1. Front Left and Front Right
2. Rear Left, Rear Right, and Surround Right
3. Front Center, Subwoofer, and Surround Left

the Fortissimo 3, however, has 4 jacks as follows:
1. Front Left and Front Right
2. Rear Left and Rear Right.
3. Front Center and Subwoofer
4. Surround Left and Surround Right

if i am right, you problem is caused by two difference connection formats for 7.1 speaker setups.
