I’m not sure if this is an April Fools joke or not, but I’d love it to be true.

Now if they can cut down on the number of spoofed messages that get sent from their servers.

For me, Gmail already does a very good job of keeping Spam out of my Inbox. If anything, a bigger problem is legit emails ending up in the Spam folder...

It's more that this claims they will finally start doing SPF, DMARC, and DKIM matching which has been a normal thing for 0365 for 3+ years, and a requirement for Exchange since 2019
Things that fail those tests don't even go to Spam, they just get dropped.
