Im planning some major upgrades(hard drive, processor, and video card), now because of this i am not getting the best from each catagory, and i was wondering, how come i see no talk about the regular 6800 on ultra? I cant seem to find any benchmarks, i found a eVGA 6800 NU for 287, this is alot cheaper then a GT, does it offer decent preformance? I have a Ti4200 right now that is getting long in the tooth. Could someone please provide some insight?

In case your wondering i plan to get a 3Ghz p4 (only 533 FSB, my mobo is a Asus P4PE), and up my 40Gig drive to a 120 gig drive, i am getting a bigger drive simply because games are taking more and more space, as i rule i have no use for a 250 Gb drive just yet :)

I want this to last about a year and a half if possible, then i plan to build a whole new pc using BTX, PCIX, and all that good stuff :)

How much RAM do you have? I'd shoot for a gig of pc3200, it will be fine for the 533 bus with plenty of room at the top end most likely. As for video you can look at anandtech's review for the 6800s it has a 6800NU in the mix. They showed it being about 10%ish faster than the XT and 5950 if that tells you anything. I'll be picking one up sometime after the 31st when i get paid again. Hope that helps ya.

It's probably the best card for $300, but for only $100 more, you can get a GT (which is assloads faster.)

If you're on a budget, I'd definitely get it over the 9800XT/5950U.

By the way, your processor is fine, just get a gig of RAM.

the specs i posted are what im upgrading too, i currently have a 2 ghz pc :-p. Yeah i will get a gig of ram for sure, pc 2700 as the P4PE cant handle higher speeds. Ill check out the benchmarks at anandtech, i searched around there earlier but didnt find them. Sounds like a good card to replace my ti4200, getting a GT is overkill for me since i dont play above 1280x1024 just yet :-p

thanks for like link, i found this earlier, i assume the leadtek and eVGA cards are probably clocked the same. Ill see where im at after the ram HD and proc and base the GT or NU choice off that i guess.

Was informed by Greg That 20 in stock and mine will be here monday

$279.+32. overnight = $311.00

is the 6800 nu 12 pipes?
Yes, but that's still four more than the top cards from last generation....it remains to be seen if it's possible to unlock 4 more pipes on the core if Nvidia didn't laser cut them like has been done to certain X800pros..

I can say for sure this feature is not to be trusted
These settings are manual..
Will work with them as I go along..

Serelaw I'm curious as to why you didn't overclock the ram any on those tests of the 6800?
I'd love to see how much the scores go up from those.
