I notice that under Policies under the harddrive Properties, there is a checkbox for "Enabled advanced performance"

What is this? There is no explanation but only a haunting note about recommending a backup power.

Thanks

Probably means that hd writes are cached in system memory instead of being written immediately to the hd, which boosts performance while increasing the chances that a crash or power failure will lead to cached writes not being flushed to the hd, thus the recommendation to use backup power.

well there is another box right above it for write caching which already has some warning about power failure. however, the one under it has a much more taunting warning
