dvd tray won't open reliably

i have a benq 1655 and the tray seems to be getting a little flaky as it won't always open. has anyone else dealt with this issue or know a fix?

I wouldnt fret about it much, I'd continue using the drive until long after i would have to use a paperclip to eject the tray. otherwise, for 30 bux you can get a smoking new sata dvd-r with all the bells and whistles. PS, this belongs in the optical drive sub-forum

That usually means the motor to open the tray is dying. I'd see about RMAing it, or replacing it before it (the motor) dies completely.

I know this is an old thread but I just had the same problem and was looking for a fix.

I actually just fixed the problem last night. I replaced the "rubber band" inside the drive with an o-ring I had. Now it opens everytime no problem.

I even consider it a mod because it's a glow in the dark o-ring.
