Can Ghost do this...?

I want to make a complete backup of my hard drive: OS, programs, settings, etc. to archive. This way, next time I want to reformat I can just wipe the drive and reload the backup. Can Norton Ghost do this? Can I just take the image to a clean formatted drive and restore everything? Does it make an exact copy; will all my games still work as before and all my registry settings remain intact?

assuming you restore to the same computer. perhaps it would work with the exact same hardware but not physically the same computer, i'm not sure. dunno if that was a concern or not.
