My last system was a 2.8/533 with all the goodies, im gonna be building up a new one within a couple weeks, was wondering how much of a performance difference there is between the two.

Gaming mostly

It's a performance jump for sure.. but not that big.

The improvement lies within the potential. These P4s are so damn overclockable. Get a 2.6C... with a Canterwood/Springdale mobo... Some tight PC3200 memory... and you'll be at 250MHz in no time :)

Keep in mind the faster bus and HT make it worthwhile in addition to overclocking!

Honestly...at stock speeds you will only notice a difference in some benchmarks. The "feel" of being faster may or may not be there for you.

Yep.

Little difference in stock speeds.

Your memory scores will be much faster if you're going from single channel to dual channel, and jumping from 533 to 800.
So your FPS will be higher. But if you leave it at default of 2.8Ghz it will only be a marginal improvement.

But you need to OVERCLOCK. That will make a BIGGER difference. Older 2.8/533 probably only clock to 3Ghz. Where a new 2.8C will probably OC to 3.4Ghz+ and the higher FSB will help out a lot.
