I'm going to place an order for the speakers on newegg tonight and I'm wondering if I could benefit from an audigy over my current on-board sound. My motherboard is an AN7. It has optical spdif out on the back. The nForce says it does realtime DD encoding but I don't think it could sound any "better" because of the lossy compression. The only real advantage I'm seeing with teh audigy is EAX3.0 and EAX Advanced HD. Anybody have both or wanna throw an opinion in before I order?

The audigy2 is also 24bit, some people notice the difference, others don't. And you get 2 more channels (The speakers won't but you haev the option to upgrade later)

Just my $0.02usd

Well I decided against the Audigy for now. I ordered a Sony DVD burner instead.

Sounds sensible to me.

The SoundStorm with digital-out is a very, VERy nice soundcard.

Drivers are much less bloated than Creative's, too.
