ATI 9600XT in Socet423 MB's??

Any had any luck boot an ATI 9600XT in a VIA socket423 MB? The card works fine in a 478MB, just not in the VIA one...

Could it be a power supply issue (it's 300W)? I noticed in a thread below about some PSU's tripping due ot the large draw at boot time from ATI AIW cards...

Why would it be any different in a 423 mobo provided it has an AGP slot

if it's a no name 300W with a bunch of other devices, I'd worry. if it's a good brand with only your standard 1 HDD/ couple fans/ couple CD drives, that shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you connect it to a DIFFERENT power header than the one connected to your hard drive(s).

Thanks for the suggestions, but it doesn't have a power header on it.

If it helps, a GF4-MX works fine in the slot. Could it be that the AGP voltage needs adjusting? Or the apeture size?

depending on the maker most all 9600XT don't have a external power header on them. especially the ones built by ati.

Hmm.. I have a little more powerful PS, but my HD and Video Card are connected to the same power connector and I have no problems. *shrug*

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

It literally doesn't work.... nothing happens you power it on. Put the GF4MX back in, boots. 9600XT, no post at all. Funky. I'll swap power supplies this weekend I guess.
