ok well i conected everything and installed windows, but every time my comptuer says ide now installed and also bios not installed too so

A wee bit more details would be nice. Did you just attach one drive to the PRIMARY *not secondary* IDE channel or is it a SATA drive? Did you try clearing the CMOS as well? My system board also has the issue of every once in awhile the CMOS just freaks out and it asks me to reload it.

Make sure legacy USB is turned off in BIOS as well as enable Plug and Play OS when Win XP is finished.

Start with the basics first, load just Win XP on one HDD with just you video card and nothing else installed. Process of elimination

i connected my hd to primary ide. yes i tried clearing cmos
i will check to make sure legacy usb is turned off and i believe plug and play os is on, but i will check

ok thank you

Also make sure your RAM settings are correct. This board is pretty picky about the RAM settings and type of RAM that it has with it.

do you remember what settings because i left it defult and i have 2 512 pc 3200 of cros hpyer x

i don't get this new mobo it says bios not installed, but i can go to bios setup

Go to Asus web site and download the drivers and utilities that you need. You don't really need to wait for the cd.

Go to that site tonight, look for "your board" under the dowload section. Check for the latest bios, than get your sound driver, etc.

Try that.

BTW, since you updated the bios today, did you go back and recheck some of those settings, like sound?

Good luck :)

what do you mean about configure the sound. it should just work if you just plug it in. anyways i decided to check the mike and it does pick up sound, but the output doesnt

i burned the cd and it seems that the burned copy works. btw went and dl new drivers for sound and it doesn work

I mean, does your board have on-board sound? Do you have your own sound card?

Forgive me, but I've not looked-up your boards specs, so I'm uncertain if it has onboard sound.

Find that in your specs. Tell us more about that part. OK?

it has onboard sound up to 6.1

thers the linki http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket478/p4c800-e_d/overview.htm if you want to check
"AI AUDIO (6-channel digital audio)
AI series motherboards employed the world's first intelligent audio CODEC. The 6-channel AD1985 audio CODEC automatically detects and identifies what types of peripherals are plugged into the audio I/O jacks and notifies users of inappropriate connection, meaning there will be no more confusion of Line-in, Line-out and Mic jacks."

In the meantime, are you certain the speaker system your using is AOK? Wires connected where they're supposed to be? Hey, it doesn't hurt to re-chec

Right off the bat I'm reading where it notifies user of wrong connection....so I guess you're good there. hmm, you are right?

Ok next, you got that new sound driver--- v 5.12.01.3583 ?

yeh got all problems fixed besides this one. i don't remember if i posted this but before it boots into windows it goes and is like searching for fasttrack ide something and then bios not installed. i got to reboot to see the problem to give you a exact discription. as fas as the wires go i pulgged in my speaks (which are playing(especially for porn)) i pluged iand and check 3 times now

You know what, do this:

Shut down. Take out your cmos battery. Move the jumper, move it back, you know the drill. Wait a few, put it back in again yes. As you know this resets your bios to default. Re-flash here with the "latest" bios if you'd like. If that's not necessary in case you've already done that, then don't. Leave your bios at default everything! Don't mess with the memory, nothing.

Get it to"run" first before you do any of that.

Use this opportunity to carefully check your cards seating, wires, etc.

Format your HDD. Reinstall OS. Put your "latest" mobo tools and drivers on here. Don't use anything from your friends old disk. Everything fresh!
