Sister and her husband built new 3.2G systems and gave me some of their old hardware. I now have a Gainward GF3 Ti200 and (2) 1.5G socket 478 P4 chips. What is a good 'old' dual socket 478 motherboard?

Probably going to make this computer my "I've always wanted to play with/try to learn linux" computer and a fileserver (#musicvideos) for IRC.

If you wanna go dual, you'll have to go with P3's or Xeon's. P3's being your least expensive route. The Abit VP6 was a decent dual p3 board and would overclock very well with 2 cpus (used to have one actually. It would run both of my 1Ghz 133fsb cpu's at 1.2Ghz flawlessly. I now have one of the cpu's in an Asus Tuv4x and it can only BARELY get to 1.13Ghz and that's with lax ram timings).

You could always get 2 478 boards and make a small "server farm".

Or MPs, Opterons, a non-x86 architecture, or something really old... dual PPros anyone?
