I've got a Samsung S27A550H monitor ($450) that is a few months old. It died one day recently - screen went dark and wouldn't come back on. So, I called Samsung, got a warranty repair authorization/transaction #, and drove the monitor to a local authorized repair shop.
After a couple weeks...
Looks like I did it today with my Samsung 27A550H. It all started when I decided to upgrade the nVidia driver for the Quadro FX 880M in my Dell M4500 laptop. I was having problems with display driver crashing repeatedly, so that's why I decided to upgrade.
After upgrading to nVidia 296.10, my...

I'm looking for a good 2.0 or 2.1 speaker system for my desktop pc. I currently have a Logitech Z-5500 5.1 hooked up, but it obviously just won't work for the lossless music I like to listen to these days. I've also already got a nice home theater system hooked up, for when I want to piss off...

due to increased crime in my neighborhood, i'm going to upgrade my current 4 camera low end system. i currently have a Lorex system that has served me very well for about 7 yrs, but i want to upgrade to a 6 camera system, and want higher resolution, and a DVR with non-proprietary export format...
i've been building a new higher end system this month, and went through a hell of an asus nightmare. i wanted to go with an intel proc, and ati gpu, so i bought an Asus Maximus Formula, a QX9650, 8GB of Corsair DDR2-1066 Dominator, two 3870x2 cards, Tt 1200W psu, 150GB Raptors in Raid 0, etc...
i'm in the process of building a new system. i've decided on the QX9650 and dual 3870x2 cards, which i already have, along with everything else i need. i just got a new Gigabyte X38-DQ6 mobo delivered from newegg this week, but haven't opened the box yet.
i see that vendors are starting to...
anybody know if i will need to or should reinstall windows vista when upgrading the cpu on my asus maxiumus formlua x38 mobo? i'll be pulling out my Q6600 65nm processor, and replacing it with a QX9650 45nm processor.
these are the parts i'm collecting.
proc: QX9650
cpu cooler: Zalman 9700
mobo: asus maximus formula (X38)
ram: 2x2GB of Dominator DDR2-1066 w/ fan
gpu: (2) 3870 x2 cards (one asus, one visiontek) for "quadfire" CrossfireX
psu: Thermaltake 1200W
hd: 2 74GB Raptors in Raid 0, another 150GB...
i have no idea if this is legit, but saw it posted on avsforum. these are _rumored_ to be the catalyst 8.3 beta drivers that support xfirex. of course it could be bogus, or be infected or trojaned.

i ordered a new rig recently and should be picking it up from Envision Computer Solutions (top rated pc builder on resellerratings with perfect 10.0 score and lots of votes -...
when building a cutting edge pc, does it make sense to buy some of the more problematic parts locally so that RMAs are easier and quicker? for example, i am considering paying an extra 10-20% for my mobo locally so i can just drive down the street and exchange it if the first one is bad. does...
its time to replace my pc. the last pc i purchased and kept* ** is about 4 yrs old (early p4 w/ pc133). i have been reading and researching for a couple months now and studying all of the latest hardware choices and combinations. i've come up with a "low end" system (low by my standards) and...
