I'm a PC user with iTunes and want to use the built in Airtunes to broadcast over my wireless network (using Netgear WGR614v4 wireless router) to a wireless speaker.
My neighbor has a mini mac, likely an Airport Express, and this fake rock wireless speaker with D batteries and auto-shutoff to...
I've been trying to find a flat pic of the Antec Super Cyclone.
It's only $15 at Compusa or orderable from CircuitCity.
I think it's air intake is a bit closer to the bracket.
Folks seem to get a 5C drop from it, so I'll try it tomorrow.
the HR-03 is a nice heatsink, but with an item putting out 65-75C almost double my cpu in heat, I want a solution that gets it out of the case also.
Blowing the heat all around the case doesn't help the system.
Yes, elmo I read your posts. very good.
Was also hoping someone might spot a flaw in my overall setup, or have specific opinions about the Blitz slot cooler.
I'm leaning towards this cooler, since its a double thick 80mm fan, but 10CFM isn't stellar.
The Blitz has a CFM range of...
I understand the 8800 can handle the temps, my concern is with the additional heat it's putting on the rest of the computer by not pushing it all out of the case.
Thanks!
I may try this to help drop internal temps 5C.
I just installed an evga superclocked 8800 GTS yesterday and was shocked by the temps. (core 576Mhz, mem 1700 Mhz stock OC)
65C idle, and 75C load.
Until some good aftermarket coolers come out for the 8800 GTS, has anyone considered a slot cooler? The 8800 has raised all my system temps by...
I saw 65C on my 8800 GTS that I just installed and shut it down to read up on what is normal, heh.
My 7900GT would be 40C idle, and 45C load.
Also this is the EVGA 8800 GTS that comes stock OC'd to 576Mhz core, 1700Mhz mem, so I should probably expect a touch higher temps. Still...
Tried Creative tech support again. Was hoping they could help me change the IRQ, but was told their card will not work in all systems. Despite my SBLive and other cards working in that same PCI slot.
They told me to go ask my motherboard manufacturer for a BIOS to change my IRQ's per PCI...
Using an AMD Opteron Dual core 175 cpu, and the AMD/MS affinity patch, you can move processes/games to either core using taskmaster.
Would there be a benefit shifting a game to core 2 which seems to sit mostly idle, with the assumption XP and other programs would be consuming cycles on core...
I thought fighting an ISA soundcard and the IRQ setting was a thing of the past with XP and ACPI managing IRQ's.
Got a new Creative XiFi gamer PCI sound card. I have a micro ATX motherboard, from an old SFF build so PCI slot 1 is covered by Video card cooler, and that leaves me PCI slot 2...
Your cpu has 2 cores.
Using the affinity patch, you can in taskmaster tell a process/program which cores to use.
If most of winXP and other programs use core 1, would there be a benefit to games to tell them to use core 2 which site mostly idle.
A game written to use multiple cores would...
How well does Win XP SP2 support multicore cpu's?
I'm currently using an AMD Opty 175.
I installed the AMD multi core driver and I believe all it did was add the ability to choose program affinity and select core 1, core 2, or core 1 + 2
Playing EQ2, cothe 1st core goes to 100%.
If I...
I sometimes think I play games mostly just to have a reason to upgrade my PC hardware.
Play WoW, with their cartoonish graphics, you won't need to upgrade.
Using just a 7900GT video card, I would play
- balanced preset, increase detail distance to 50, and turn particles off
On a raid of 24 in Vyemm's lab, I had to change it to
- high performance, increase detail distance to 50, and turn particles off
I upgraded my cpu to an Opty 175, and no...
Vanguard is just not fun to play. It reminds me of EQ1 or DaoC. (playing since beta2)
WoW is fun to play, but I'm not a fan of cartoonish graphics for style or mass hardware compatibility. Also the player base are a lot of idiot b.net kiddies. Although 8 million subscribers is a testament...
EQ2 is completely different now.
It's a shame they stumbled out of the gate, and folks who havent played in over a year continue to bash the game.
I played WoW to a lvl 60 paladin and EQ2 to a lvl 70 Brig.
WoW was more fun to level 1-60, but there was nothing for after 60 unless you liked...
Research done,
Due to X2 4400/4600 going up in price 2-3x in cost, and my FSB being limited to 240,
I'll be getting the OPT 175 with the 11 multiplier for a 230x11=2.5Ghz dual core
Asus A8N-VM CSM micro atx FSB 200-240, I can run 230 without a glitch, and low air cooling.
tks!
What is full duplex? Would it be enabled on the Opteron?
I originally planned to do a manchester x2 4600+ for $200, but all I can find online is toledo core x2 for $200 at newegg, and manchester core x2 4600 are $270.
I use an Enermax Liberty 500 PSU, and swapped out the 120mm fan for a...
I've read a lot of the posts concerning options for upgrading a S939, but wanted thoughts specific to a SFF setup.
I have the Asus A8N-VM CSM micro ATX, in an SG-01 case using the passive heatsink NT-06, so heat is a concern. I currently run an AMD 3200+, with 4x512MB DDR1 all running at a...
I just finished setting up my LG-L204WT, and love it.
Bought online at Circuit City for $330 ($40 online buy discount) and picked it up at a local branch. They offer a 14 day exchange which covers dead pixels. You can also buy the extended warranty (4 yrs) for $70-99 to cover dead pixels...
I'm debating a cpu upgrade and with the X2 price drops along with Conroe coming out, I need some advice.
My priority for build is SFF (small form factor), low heat/cooling/fans, then performance.
Most micro atx boards come out 2nd to the standard atx for featured boards.
My current...
The odd mulitplier issue doesn't effect socket 939 X2 processors?
Right?
The only memory issue is the 6 rank of the memory controller, when you populate 4x512MB of DDR, it will underclock it to 333 Mhz for stability. Hence it's recommended to buy 2x1GB DDR.
I got bit by this issue, when I...
I'm biased.
Biased to whoever can achieve good performance with low heat and cost.
AMD held the throne, but Conroe is taking it back.
Now to wait and see if you can even find a Conroe, when, and any gotcha's on setting it up.
I'm sitting on a socket 939 SFF, so I'll likely just grab an...
I've been reading over the display forum, and was hoping to get personal experience advice on the following 3 displays I'm considering.
Currently I use a Sony 21" CRT CPD-G500 and play a lot of games in addition to watching DVD video's. My desktop is 1280x1024, and I also play games at this...
My keyboard will have keys stop working, or characters transpose.
I can sometimes clear the problem by powering down, turning off power ATX PSU switch, pulling power cord, then reconnect, power back up.
It doesn't always work, but seems to be the only thing that will.
So this points to a...
I'm getting 35C idle, and 47C load, with an ambient temp of 21C.
Zalman flower similar to your blue orb
Liberty PSU with 120mm fan fighting the cpu cooler air flow
Artic Cooler on 7900GT, is your video card cooler adding internal heat?
also had to add an 80mm fan to help cool HD, since...
What's with Nvidia's last nfroce 430/410 driver update being last November. I thought they were due to release an update in January.
No updates?
Would you jump into a new chipset?
heh, yah I would too if there was a feature I wanted.
I've had wacko grounding issues with my Asus...
I believe someone posted that the X-Qpack would fit in the Silverstone bag.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811999041
Nice black bag with foo foo light blue straps.
That PSU would work.
Couldn't the cross flow fan also be mounted on the outside of the case?
It's in an ideal location to pull air across the NT06 heatsink.
I'm itching to get one of these.
What cpu are folks using with it?
Venice or San Diego core?
the point is that his mousepad glows blue !
the cpu was $1k alone.
Haven't seen a $4k system since most items from Falcon Northwest and the $3k 486 dx2 66 PC from college.
That orbital mod is a nice idea. I myself rarely use the front ports.
NV5R3 cooler was also a good idea. Venting heat out of the case for SFF is crucial.
I dremeled my cooler to fit the 7900GT.
Have you noticed much air turbulance with the PSU blowing out, and the Zalman blowing down...
The first time a game AI impressed me was the first Unreal and the lizard guys would dodge your shots. The movement was a bit jerky, but it was a first.
Also the huge outdoor areas in Unreal with that fight against the giant chasing you.
Oblivion is nice eye candy. Controls are a bit clumsy.
I'd be interested to read how the NT06 turns out.
I've got the SG01E and a Zalman 7000-cu blowing down which fights my Enermax Liberty PSU 120mm fan venting out the back. I modded the Liberty fan with a Nexus 120mm silent that is 300-700 rpm instead of the stock 600-1200 rpm fan.
If the...
the 3.5" HD cage is in the front and is metal on metal which creates a holy hell of a vibration noise. You can A) get sound dampening material to stop the metal on metal, or B) buy a 2.5" version of a hard drive, and suspend it in the 3.5" drive cage. =D
That is my only regret when I put...
for PSU if you decide not to re-use the one you have
Seasonic S12-500 or Enermax Liberty 400
For case fan, you can't beat a Nexus 120mm
http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/nexus_120mm_bw.html?id=vknXQG5Y
1000 rpm at standard 12V
btw all quiet components
