Agree. I originally bought this board. Worked fine for about a week then refused to power up. I was able to return it to the and replaced it with the Tomahawk. That MB has been rock solid. After seeing the issues others have had with the Dark Hero I’ve lost faith with Asus quality control...
When Windows 11 was released I did a full, clean install using my Win 10 key instead of just upgrading. I normally do this when a new Windows version comes out because I like making sure anything old is flushed away and I’m 100% up to date. Don’t know if that‘s the difference why it didn’t...
Also installed this bios (18) 2 days ago. Running Windows 11. Went into the bios to check all the settings, then saved and rebooted. So far haven’t had any problems. Windows did give me the PIN not available because of a system change message but prompted me to login to my Microsoft account...
I had a x570 Dark Hero that worked fine for about a week then it started to trip the power supply off immediately on boot. Turned out the Dark Hero failed. Replaced it with a X570 Tomahawk that workes perfectly and returned the Dark Hero for refund. Hate to say it but with other people...
Originally I was going to return the Tomahawk when I got the Dark Hero. I liked that it didn’t have a chipset fan but when the Dark Hero died I installed the Tomahawk. The only time I overclocked was way back when I had an Athalon. With todays processors I never felt the need to overclock So...
So, if something else is plugged into that particular port will the pc power up? Is it just that DAC that causes the problem or does anything plugged into that port cause boot problems?
Glad you found the problem but unless the DAC has a fault in it the power problem shouldn’t occur.
I had an x570 dark
Hero that worked fine for about a week. Then one time I powered it on it and it immediately triped off. Wouldn’t power up at all. Turned out the motherboards failed and was causing the power supply to trip off. Replaced it with a x570 tomahawk and everything worked...
I’ve got an Enermax 1000w semi modular supply that wa purchased around 2015. I intended to use it with my new build (5900x, X570 and 3080ti) but had a couple problems with the build (not related with the supply) . Replaced it with a fully modular EVGA 1300. Since everything else was new...
Yup, still pretty satisfied as the cost of the bundle was only about $250 more than I paid for the Titan. Only really ran 3DMark for a benchmark but the performance seems to be about double of my old system. Started out thinking I’d only get a new MB, processor and 3080 series video card if I...
I had a I had a 6700k up until about a month ago. Built a new system with a 5900x and the x570 Dark Hero. Was pretty satisfied but after about a week the Dark Hero died and would cause my power supply to trio off immediately after power on. Replaced it with a x570 Tomahawk which I paid about...
Ha!!! Good one.I’m well over 40 and that movie is one of my favorites. Didn’t think of it at the time but about a month ago I had my own Jerk moment when I won the shuffle for a Gigabyte 3080ti on my 3rd or 4th entry. At the time I debated if I should pull the trigger since it was bundled...
I just picked up a M7 and 6700k. Won't have time to put it together for a couple more days though.
There's a new bios for the M7 (dated 9/3 I think). When you built up your M5 did you flash the bios to the latest before loading an OS? No problems with memory off the bat? One of the things...
Ordered from Amazon yesterday. I might have gone for a Newegg combo, but I bought 32 GB of ddr4 about a month ago. I had about $30 in NE points that were expiring & didn't want to waste them. Guess I'll be able to pick the MB I want now while I wait for Amazon.
I thought about pre-ordering from B&H this morning but then did a Google search. I'd review the following before I gave any of my money to these guys.

I've had a Titan X for about 6 weeks & am running with a Dell P2715Q monitor. Everything was working pretty much O.K. (except wake from sleep :)) until tonight. A day or 2 ago I updated the driver to NVidia's 353.06 thru Geforce Experience. Forced a clean install. Everything seemed to work...
Would have to be a deep discount. I don't think I'd risk buying someone's used card for less than $250 to $300 off. It's not worth just a couple hundred to have to deal with RMA's, etc. if you get a 2nd hand card with problems when for just a hundred or two you can get a brand new factory...
Well, I picked up a TitanX from Nvidia about 6 weeks ago. A couple of months ago I upgraded to a Dell 4K display & the 780 ti I had wasn't cutting it. I've got to say the X is much smoother than the 780 ti, but as others have said, with 4K you really need SLI. Even though 2 980 Ti's are...
Good ol' NVidia :). Got home about 1/2 hour ago. FedEx had delivered my Titan X. Left it on the porch. $1000 video card just sitting on the porch all afternoon. No signature required on a card that costs this much ??? Guess I'm lucky I live in a decent area & no one saw the box sitting...
FedEx just delivered the one I ordered from NVidia. Now I've got to wait till after work to get home & try it out :(!!!
Are the latest NVidia released drivers the best to use with these currently or are their "special" drivers on th cd's or beta drivers that should be used?
Just ordered one direct from NVidia. Got the confirmation email yesterday (Saturday). They showed in stock when I ordered Friday afternoon, so hopefully they'll ship on Monday & I'll get it by mid-week.
Currently running a MSI 780 ti, but I upgraded to a Dell 4K display a couple of months...
In reality, the base clock speed difference between gaming mode & OC mode really isn't that significant so this problem with the MSI Gaming 780 ti shouldn't be a big problem. I guess it just bothers me the more I think about it that I made my purchasing decision based on the review here & @...
You guys are missing the point. I don't want to fool with loading & clicking MSI software. I don't want to have something else 'run at startup'. What I'd like is for the card to boot to the speeds the reviewers were seeing without screwing around with anything else. Yea, the marketing guy...
Probably, but the point is I don't want to have to do that. I'd rather it just booted straight to the OC speed. I originally wanted the Gigabyte Ghz edition but it wasn't in stock anywhere. The MSI card is very good, quiet, seems to work at all speeds fine. I just think having to fool with...
At first I thought this was no big deal. Just use the gaming app & select the profile you want. I assumed your selection was stored in non-volatile memory, but NO !!! When you re-boot the card reverts to it's default 980 Mhz default clock. If seems if you want to run at 1020 Mhz default...
You start the app from it's desktop icon. All that comes up is a box with 3 buttons, one for each mode. You just click the one you want. Couldn't be much easier. I guess your definition of 'savy owner' is different than mine:).
This really isn't the case though, is it? The 780 ti's that reviewers received were not faster than what consumers got. They only defaulted to a faster base clock on installation for some reason. The clock speeds on the boards available to consumers & reviewers thru the gaming app selection...
Like I indicated, its hard to believe this was an intentional 'fraud'. The cards are designed for the 3 performance levels. With all the technical expertise @ various review sites & that a lot of end users have I think it's more likely that reviewers got earlier (bios) revision cards than...
Odd move or calculated ?? Hopefully this wasn't some slick marketing call to try to 'pad' the reviews somewhat. It's hard to imagine that a company wouldn't think different default clock speeds would be one of the things looked at carefully by both reviewers & consumers. I'm happy with this...
BTW, I'm still very happy that I bought this card. Other than an initial burble with 3DMark11 it's worked flawlessly. Also nice & quiet.
I had an HD 7970 that I was pretty satisfied with. When the R9-290x's came out I got the upgrade bug & got in on the Amazon 'Deal' where their partner...
I don't think anyone thinks it's a really big deal. Just a curiosity that some cards install with a different frequency than others. I think it was on TPU's forums that someone speculated (since the reviewers board had a faster base clock rate) that NVidia intentionally furnished reviewers...
Wow, nice price:). I think if you've got $600 to spend on a video card you shouldn't take a risk on a return for only about a $35 savings. Personally, I wouldn't even go for it if it had a $100 discount. If $50 or $100 means that much to you then you probably shouldn't be looking at a $700 card.
For that small of a discount I wouldn't fool with an open box card. My 780 ti Gaming wa 669 on sale @ newegg. I think now the price is only 710 & you don't pay tax. Why take a chance on someone's return for a $35 savings.
Mine clocked in @ 980 base with just the NVidia drivers installed also. On one of the other sites forums I think there were posts about this. It appeared that cards sent to reviewers defaulted to the faster clock rates. Purchased cards also had different bios version #'s. The bios on my...
