This is a solid post. I think AMD dominates the $100-180 in regards to CPU. Whereas if you have more to spend, Intel takes the crown with their i5 and i7 quads. So make a budget, and if your budget only has room for a $150 CPU (remember, most games are GPU limited rather than CPU, so you should...
Long time AMD fanboy here as well but I know my next rig will be Intel. I got an FX-8320 on the cheap last Summer but am on the whole disappointed in its performance and heat. Price for performance ($150 and below) yeah its solid but now that I have a job I can afford to spend a little more...
I am thinking of buying another 7870 to crossfire (MSI). do you think this would be very beneficial or should i just buy one higher end card? i want to play bioshock Infinite, Batman and some newer games at highest detail.
This is definitely the way to go to avoid any problems down the line. I also recommend this guide to optimize your performance once you get Windows installed:

Yeah this is really annoying. I was putting off my big rig upgrade until 2014 and of course now, not only have prices not dropped, they have actually increased quite a bit since I last looked. All I want to do is play some video games on high quality for once lol. I don't care about mining cat...
I'm not trolling but what is the special value of 16:10? I had a 16:10 monitor for about a year and then moved to 16:9, and I don't feel like I've lost anything.
I've had so many problems with my 8320 throttling that I decided to just say f it, I'm turning off throttling. The problem isn't your CPU cooler, its the VRM. I don't think there are any mobos out there that can truly cool these things sufficiently with just heatsinks on the VRM. I bought a...
LOL I have the same mobo (gigabyte 990 UD3 rev4) and i cant figure this out either. TMPIN1 seems to match "package" temp of my 8320 closely. i think that one is the CPU. TMPIN0 and TMPIN2... im thinking one is NB and other is VRM?
haha oh man this is great. so i guess i have to cover all those little black things... this can get difficult. I just assumed those black boxes were the "3+1" because 3 of them say one thing, and the last one says something else.
Just got them in and installed, then ran a few tests.
Before adding the heatsinks:
After:
After, and with the CPU heatsink on as well.
The heatsinks are quite small so even with my mATX setup and the Cooler Master TX3, there was plenty of room. Also very easy install with the included...
Will do! Just ordered these:

Hopefully it will be here by Wednesday. Can't wait to see the temps, and maybe try my hand at a little OCing.
Thanks. I don't really intend to remove them, I mean this mobo was CHEAP ($40) so once its done its going in the trash most likely. I'll give the enzos a shot, hopefully they provide some much needed cooling.
Hello all, I have an FX-8320 with Cooler Master TX3 cooler. Motherboard is Biostar A960D+. Problem is the mosfets are getting very hot, up to 82C with Prime95 running for 5min+. I actually got them down to about 75C on load by turning the rear case fan around so it is blowing right on the...
Thank you cageymaru and ob1. An update: I turned off the temperature control thing in BIOS so it no longer throttles. Played games for an hour or so and temp of TMPIN1 got up to 85! Was pretty scared. Saw your suggestions about airflow - what I did was flip the rear case fan around. Before it...
OK so I just tried putting the stock AMD cooler back on, and got the exact same results but WAY louder. So I don't the Cooler Master heatsink is the problem.
Hi all! Recently decided to start building my own computer and decided to go with pcpartpicker's recommendation for a cheap but decent PC. Been having some problems and have been pulling my hair out so hopefully you can help  Anyways, here are the parts:
AMD FX-8320, COOLER MASTER Hyper...
Looking for a key for the game. If you got the hard copy, just give me the key and keep the packaging on display or sell on Ebay for like $10 or something lol. Anyways, I'll pay via Paypal. Also post your vouches/heatware.
Thanks
[H]ello,
I'm having this problem where my Vista computer will get booted off the wireless network when doing certain things. Usually its something intense, like when torrents run at higher speeds, or PS3 media server trying to stream anything to the console.

technically you can click the little plus sign to the right of the tabs to open a new tab home page. but of course the more tabs you have open, the further right this button is. i prefer it to be in the SAME position all the time.
it has tons of potential. it is definitely faster than FF. here is what i want from firefox:
1. move the tabs below the address bar
2. click mousewheel to set an anchor, and move mouse up and down to scroll page.
3. 'home' button should be mousewheel-clickable to open up a new tab home...
computer was put together in summer 2003. a few minor upgrades since then (video card, ram)
hopefully ill build a new one with a nice case once nehalim comes out.
it depends on what you like listening to. some people who enjoy drama or documentaries where dialogue is the key focus, yes the center speaker is the most important piece. however, for gaming, action movies, etc, IMO the 2 fronts also should be very good and match the center in terms of quality...
not sure what the R50s match to, but the R is polk's budget line. you can probably step to the monitor series for the rears, center can be the polk cs1. as for sub... polk's budget sub PSW10 gets pretty bad reviews overall. id recommend checking out avsforum to see what they recommend. for...

I just installed a hard drive about 3 days ago and it died today. It is a Maxtor 300gb SATA/150 16mb cache, Diamond Max 10, model # SL300S0. I bought it July 31, 2006
according to the instruction manual in the box, the warranty is 1 year
however, i recall hearing that after seagate...
sure a 9800 pro is fine in the little baby 5-man dungeons you are running, but wait till you do a 25-man like serpentshrine where 25 players are in a full water zone. you will not get even 20fps with the settings at max.
