My overclocking experience went extremely well. I followed this guide( http://pc.ign.com/articles/747/747606p2.html ) step by step and I literally did this without even resetting the cmos once. I didn't get too crazy but here are my final stats:
2.4Ghz -> 3.4Ghz
MEM 783Mhz -> 900Mhz
Ram had...
I was running 1680x1050/medium but I was barely able to run it without extreme choppyness. Now I'm running 1024x768/medium but the choppyness are still there, just not as severe.
Here are my current specs:
Core 2 Duo E6600
eVga 680i A1
eVga 8800GTS 640MB x2 SLI
4GB (2GBx2) G.Skill PC-8500 1066MHz
Windows 7 x64
I can't seem to achieve a decent FPS in HL2 mods(L4D2, TF2) and I'm suspecting the video cards are the culprits bottlenecking my system. Should I look...
I'm thinking of getting a new desktop and my friend wants to purchase my current rig but I have no idea how much my rig is worth.
Can somebody give me a rough estimate of the rig in my sig?
Well the DVI-to-DVMI cable is coming from my computer's graphic card like a dual monitor. Now I just need to somehow route the audio signal from my audio card to the TV.
Maybe there's a better setup then this I'm not aware about?
Basically I'm going to place my desktop in the living room so that I can route A/V to my LCD monitor to play movies and media.
I can route the video by using a DVI-to-HDMI cable but I'm wondering how I'm suppose to route the audio from the computer to the TV?
I don't have a receiver nor a...
Ever since I reformatted my computer from Win XP SP2 to Win XP 64-bit, my computer would try to read my empty DVD drive everytime I open My Computer or at random times. This might not sound like a big deal but my computer would freeze for about 4-6 seconds trying to access the DVD drive. Is...

Woah, I don't know if technology has gotten that much better in such a short time but those cards, especially the Asus reminds me of the old ATI 9800's. Looks wise those cards seem like a downgrade :p. Anyways, I noticed several people upgraded from their 8800's like me so I'm really considering...
Well I'm currently on Win XP but I'm willing to upgrade to Vista if it'll open more hardware possibilities. As for gaming, the most graphic/cpu intensive game I play is TF2(HL2 engine) and I still can't quite achieve a smooth "green" fps. My resolution is set at 1680x1050 which I believe is the...
I've had my computer for about a little over a year now and I'm wondering what upgrades are worthwhile doing. Normally I do my research and all that when I'm actually purchasing a brand new computer but I've been away from computer hardware for so long. Oh and my spec are in my sig. Thanks.
I just reformatted my main drive and WinXP won't recognize the drive again. I fixed it the first time by formatting it in disk management but I don't want to format the drive since I have so much valuable files in it. Is there a way around formatting the drive?
I just installed a third HD(Hitachi Deskstar 1TB SATA) and although my BIOS and System->Disk Drive recognizes it, My Computer doesn't show it. Any ideas?
I know it's a general rule to use DVI over VGA cable on a LCD monitor(specifically Samsung 226BW) but the DVI port is currently by my PS3. Instead of constantly changing the cables, I'm wondering if there's a switch available for my situation. I've seen several HDMI switches but haven't really...
Basically I want to use my Samsung 226BW for both computer and PS3(HDMI-to-DVI cable) uses because I live in a tiny dorm room. Thing is, the monitor obviously has only one DVI port and I don't want to unplug and plug the cable everytime I want to go from the computer to the PS3(vise versa.)...
I have some knowledge regarding PC hardware but I have a question that I can't seem to explain to my friend.
Basically he's debating between two laptop. One has a lower cpu speed at 1.4GHz but the FSB is clocked 800MHz(Dell Vostro) whereas the other laptop is 1.8GHz but the FSB is clocked at...
Basically I want to hook up my PS3 with a DVI-to-HDMI cable to my monitor(226BW), but that means I won't be able to use the DVI port for my computer. Will there be notable performance difference between using the DVI and VGA for my computer? Or is there a solution that'll satisfy both ends?
So going through all this trouble and ending up with a receiver, 2 speakers, and a subwoofer totaling up to +$700(will most likely upgrade to a 5.1) will better than just grabbing a z-5500?
From the information I've gathered, the best solution would just be going from:
[soundcard] -----digital...
I'm wondering what jack and what cable you're using to hook up from your soundcard to your receiver.
I specifically want to use the 3.5mm digital output(flexijack) on my X-Fi platinum but the receiver I'm looking to buy(Panasonic XR-55) seems to have digital inputs for only the optical and...
I'm wondering how I can tell if my 226BW has any bleeding effect to it... Also what is the most fast and effective way to calibrate my monitor? Or should I just use the premade settings?
Hmm I manually had to drag out the dxdiag.exe from the installer file, strange how it didn't install it. Anyways I got it to work but it doesn't seem to recognize my audio driver for some reason. Maybe that's why my Quake4 won't launch during startup D;
For some reason I don't have "dxdiag.exe" in my system32 folders... but the other directx files seem to be there.
I have directx 9.0c and windows SP2 installed.
I try to pull up my directx screen by opening dxdiag in run but it says the file can not be found. I've also tried dxdiag.exe but it's also a no go. Is there an alternate way to open dxdiag? I've even tried searching for dxdiag. D;
I just went out and bought my 226BW on impulse at my local Office Depot. After confirming that the display model had a S, I immediately grabbed the last one. :D
I've read several posts regarding how computer speakers will always be inferior to home theater speakers, also how low end home theater speakers are almost better then high end computer speakers.
If this is true, I would like to jump on this wagon immediately since I have a decent...
