    unknown CPU type

hello to all. i know this is boring, but here it goes. I just linked the 2nd L5 bridge from the right as it states in the already by all known link: http://www.cpuheat.wz.cz/html/AXP_multiplier/AXP_Multiplier.htm And it seems something happened since it says "unknown CPU type" at POST...

    Noisy Maxtor, Replace?

This last one is from HITACHI. I'll rather use this one since Powermax will not work on Nvidia based chipsets (as Maxtor states in the utility page). Thanx

2100+ Pally @1.840Vcore at deafult BIOS setting... WTF!?

Hi, I don't think 0.04 volts is going to make a processor continously lock up. 47 is not that bad even at idlle, but temp probes in mobos are not that reliable. Try a better cooler. Try also to underclock to see if it improves the lock ups. Ask your uncle if he had any problems at all.

    Noisy Maxtor, Replace?

Hi all, My Maxtor 6 LO40J2 40 gigb 7200, has started to make like a continous tingle noise, quite disturbing. It works fine, but too noisy. Is this normal? I plan to replace it, I've got an NF7 2.0 so I would go for a SATA hard disk. Right know, which is/are the fastest (and not noisy)...

Help me figure out what's wrong with my comp

It seems to be the link between your viedo card and Mobo or just the vid card. Try to swaping vidcards with your friend to see what of both things could be, and how each rig does with each card. If there are no errors, I don't think there's hardware damage, just some software or hardware...

Help me figure out what's wrong with my comp

Hi ruffz, I don't know if it will help, but I posted a thread becouse misteriously my 2600 + was benchmarking as a Thunderbird 1300. The funny thing is that I dammaged a bit the PCB of the CPU and thought it could have something to do. It was a PCI card, a Highpoing 370A Raid controller card...

Scratched athlon XP PCB, poor performance

Hello to all, I finally figured out what was going on. I even plugged the CPU into another NF7 and the little scratched bastard smoked!! I was so glad I had not screwed the CPU. Next thing was thinking RAM or Mobo were defective. Memtest was passed fine, and the thing was still slow...

Scratched athlon XP PCB, poor performance

CPUid shows 1921 mhz, 512 L2 cache at full speed, memory 401 mhz, 2.5 4 4 7. Stepping is 0. CPU is multiplier locked, but it's all set to default at BIOS with multiplier 11,5. Even such slow timings for ram should not slow system so much. I will try syncronous FSB - memory and 2 3 3 6 or...

Scratched athlon XP PCB, poor performance

Thanx to all. FULL specs: ABIT NF7 V2.0 Athlon xp 2600+ / L2 512 / 166 fsb x 11.5 Volcano 7+ (full copper) 512 mb Infineon 3200 2.5/4/4/7 The rest was in my previous rig and gave no problems before Nvidia GForce Ti 200 64mb modded into Quadro2 2 Seagate Barracuda 40 gb (one controlled...

Scratched athlon XP PCB, poor performance

Yes it is well configured. Bios is recent, and 2600 + it is well detected in POST. 512 kb of Cache memory (it's a Barton) are well detected by CPUid and Sandra. In fact it will run Prime95 or Superpi without errors, but the times to perform the loops in this program and the benchies of Sandra...

Scratched athlon XP PCB, poor performance

Hello to all, Installing a Volcano 7+ over a 2600+, I forgot some of the screws that attach the fun cover to the copper base. The holes are in the base of the heatsink. I screwed, really screwed by the way, but instead of finding the hole in the copper, the screw was turning between copper and...
