1925 - An Art Deco Adventure

A real update! Finished the first four pieces of the case a couple days ago. They turned out better than expected honestly. I feel they really get the iconic skyscraper-esque feel across that I wanted to acccent the corners of the case. As the design has progressed, through much deliberation...

//November 17, 2010 Small update, playing around with engraving, here is an Art Deco style eagle I drew up in Illustrator I most likely wont use this exact piece in the project, but it gives you an idea of what the potential is. I will engrave things like markings on the back panel for I/O...

Projekt Passiv-Agressiv, 100% custom. *updated not too long ago?*

Thank you all very very much, Some info: The powdercoating cost me $250, right in the pocket.... Red plexi was bought from tap-plastics.com. Its not that hard to build custom stuff, just takes time, if you rush it, i guarantee it will not come out right. I just cant believe you guys...

Projekt Passiv-Agressiv, 100% custom. *updated not too long ago?*

Yea, theres even clear powder on there, but the problem is just that powder wasnt meant for flat surfaces. I might sand the panels down with some 1500 and 2500 if I get around to it, but im worried the flake might be too near the surface in the clearcoat. Sorry to hear you wont be at PDX...

You sir have some serious pride and dignity. Thank you. I appreciate it very much. :D Temps right now are stablized around 35 idle, 43 load, and the passive radiator gets very very hot during operation, slightly surprising, and definately effective. I also had to face the bottom of the...

Projekt Passiv-Agressiv, 100% custom. *updated not too long ago?*

Thank you all, I really do like to hear sugestions as well. Ill take those into consideration. I wasnt totally pleased with the look of the ATX wire either, but I was going for a big, beefy look. Plus, when its inside the case, all the colors look basically the same, so the only improvements...

Projekt Passiv-Agressiv, 100% custom. *updated not too long ago?*

Ok, so I finished this case finally, and I was verrrry pleased to turn it on, and only see lights, and water flowing. No noise. the fans are 120s that turn at less than 700RPM, with a 160GB FDB maxtor in a solid aluminum enclosure, with passive radiators and a passively cooled PSU. Here is...

heh, thanks, thats nice to hear. I take alot of pride in design and fabrication. In case you all were wondering: Overall, it cost me about $650, $150 for the odds and ends parts for the water system $100 for the case $250 for powdercoating(Well worth it IMO) and then the...

Ok, so. Here goes, it has taken a longggg longgg time to get everything together, much longer than i had planned, the powdercoater was late with parts, and there were several complications with certain parts of the system. I finally got the parts back though, and here are some pics over the...

Well, more is on the way!! The powdercoater said the parts will be finished this friday, the exterior is black, with red flake clear, and the interior and chassis will be a crisp white. I also got some red plexi from tap plastics, which will become accent pieces all around. More to come!

Im up in Scottsdale, up towards frank lloyd wright blvd. You? Thanks for your comments, always appreciated, ikellensbro, i considered an impingement style design, but in my system, the main design goals were high performance, low flow, minimal resistance, with the flow/resistance...

    Case painting

I have to agree, This is a very rewarding experience for anyone who has never done it before, because it is just so easy, you wouldnt even believe it. I did some custom flames with a black basecoat and a silver fade up to the tips of the flames for a guy, and it came out so nice even I was...

    9700Pro=hurt me=noob

Yup, I can sympathize there..I killed my rev. 1 9700 pro, with 2.5ns chips, the good samsung ones :) and it was all because the superglue/AS5 mixture was slightly rich, and stuck a little too well...so I ripped off the vGPU voltage regulator...i nearly killed myself. $400 down the drain. Now I...

ATI Multi-Rendering to have Alternate Frame Redering (AFR)

True, they did have problems, but ArtX only helped them fix up their drivers, they werent that bad by the 8xxx series. "that bad" meaning slightly better than terrible. But yes ArtX was in fact a large chunk of driver knowledge brought to the company which gave them the edge when the R300 came...

Well, dont take me for a nub as far as metalworking or anything, i just dont have the fancy tools for big jobs....of course I have a bit, heh. Crooked Holesaw

the mandrel just screws in the center, there are no guide holes. I have plenty of paitence, its just the saw wiggles...perhaps I should try a different mandrel, I checked it with a square and it is off about 1/16" one the one side, so Im guessing a different mandrel will help.

    Crooked Holesaw

Ok, So I bought a 4" Holesaw for a small project, involving a 4.5"x4.5"x1" block of aluminum that needs a hole in it. The only problem, is that once I got the saw all chucked up in my drill press, this thing was wobbling all over like crazy. I double and triple checked it to make sure it was in...

what's your job and how does it help you with modding

Im a pilot for America West Airlines, it helps me in many ways, first, I get lots of money, so I have a budget to mod on, second, I know alot of mechanics at work that can help me with anything, I have alot of industry contacts as well, that my father knows, and I have gotten to know as well...

    Looking for Nice headphones

I also own the HD212 pros, but I paid $60 :( They are extremely strong as far as bass response, and they will rumble your ears off, so stay away unless you are looking for miniature subs, or like techno alot. They also have great frequency response, and the noise cancellation is excellent...

    z - 680 vs z-5500 logitech

The Z5500s, look damn cool, and they sound alright, but being an owner of the 5500s, and knowing friends who have the 680s, and the klipsches, the 680s mids and highs are a little cheezy, but the bass is louder and tighter, realatively, but both sets have messy, but earthshaking bass compared to...
