that makes sense as to why you can't have a multi-vlan port plugged into a hub or switch, but not why you can't have a multi-vlan port and a trunk port at the same time. i didnt think about STP though, maybe the trunk port and the multi-vlan port would both respond to STP messages?
edit...
IOS release 12.0. here is a link to the configuration guide ive been using:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps637/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00800d9d3e.html#xtocid8
you certainly can create multi-vlan ports on this switch, i just dont know why you cant do it along with trunks at the same time. these switches support 3 vlan access modes: access, multi, and trunk. so for a multi-vlan port: "switchport mode multi" is the command to set it.
i'm currently learning about switch configuration on Cisco switches (the 3524 XL specifically). i have been using VLANs lately, and i came across multi-vlan ports. every cisco document i can find online says you can't have a multi-vlan port and a trunk port configured on the same switch, but...
ive owned a PS2 since they came out and a GameCube for a year, and ive probably played them both equally. Double Dash and Smash Melee are enough to make that console worth the 100 bucks (even less now that it comes with Double Dash!) :)
i game at 1024x768 usually. works plenty well for me, any bigger and the text is so hard to read sometimes.
ps. i dont game as much as i used to, but i still play sometimes, while ive been with the same girl for over two years, and am in my second year of college.
like people above have mentioned, the ibms are pretty good. i have a T40, which is about an inch thick, 5 pounds or something. Centrino 1.3, 512 ram, dvd-rom, 40 gb hard drive, but only built in wireless-b.
my college campus is big on laptops, thousands of people have them, and lots of people ruin their batteries like that. it would be a very good idea to keep the battery out while plugged, except when you are charging obviously. :)
i use killdisk all the time, www.killdisk.com, and it doesnt take *that* long. if you start it before going to bed at night itll be done in the morning, or only a couple hours for smaller drives.
it might not be too useful, but you could set up Active Directory. create some users, give them network space and group policy restrictions. might not be too much fun, but it would be good to know :)
we deal with the same issue here, but the other way around. we have a T3 for a couple thousand users, and it really isnt that fast. TONS of people have their P2P programs open all the time and it hogs all of the bandwidth. our network admin would love to just shut off some ports and the network...
maybe less people will bitch now? probably not, but we can hope.
i think it was a great move. hopefully we will be seeing lots of updates like this. in just a couple weeks we have seen the release of DM, the SDK, and two(?) updates already.
my favorite caffeine drink is one that me and my friend invented ourselves. we take the pre-sweetened kool-aid mix, boil it into water until it is super saturated, then add crushed up caffeine. man, that stuff will keep you awake for days. it is now a staple at our lan parties :)
ravenholm was one of my favorite parts as well. when those zombie things would scream and jump off the rooftops and stuff i was seriously freaked out.
i dont really have any answers for you, but i wish you the best of luck. before i went to college i thought about applying to Digipen, but didn't think i would make it in, and it was a long ways from home. you are laying out a lot of work for yourself, but it sounds like you would be determined...
i got this off of FileFront yesterday. ill warn you guys, most of them are pretty bad. 3 of them actually crashed me to desktop when i tried to leave  crossfire 2 and datacenter were the only two i thought would actually make decent maps to play in.
good lord! every single thread about HL2 or Valve or Steam ends up with people yelling at each other! calm down!
i got my money's worth with the single player alone. i had a blast playing, and have played some chapters a few times now. i plan on playing a lot of DM, once there are a lot more...
from my understanding, you have to create server.cfg manually. i did that, but there are a hell of a lot of variables to fool with. im trying to figure out which ones do what.
i gotta agree with him on Office 2003. it has been working amazing for me so far. and that is Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, and Outlook. all have been super duper :)
i know there are a bunch of topics on DM, but i'm having trouble finding tips on running a dedicated server. I found the "official" site, www.srcds.com, but other than setting it up, there isnt much on there. does anyone have anything else, like changing the weapons that spawn, changing the frag...
hahahahahahahaha. thats my favorite so far.
my desktop is called Orodruin, like the big fiery mountain, because i was reading RotK when i built it.
thanks a lot. as for what i want to do, im mostly just curious. im a network administration major in college, and am just starting to learn about this kind of stuff. i have a job working for the computer services people here on campus, and ive learned about how they use active directory and...
hello,
im a complete noob to linux, and was wondering the best way to go about learning how to set up a "domain" (are they called that in linux?). what are the alternatives to active directory? i know about samba, but most of what i see is using samba to work nice with windows, can it be used...
i couldnt agree more Phoenix86. everyone gives windows a bad name saying it crashes all the time, yet i run winxp pro on my laptop and two desktops and it runs flawlessly. plus, i dont use any secrets, i just dont install stuff that is gonna mess it up and i keep it updated.
and to get...
hey,
im a n00b to bios flashing, but i have an old computer that im fooling around with. its running win95 with a pentium 166. i used a utility to find what the mobo was, its a biostar MB-8500TVX, using amibios. since its old, it wont recognize the 30 gig hd i want to put into it to store...
