Mountain Mods Custom Phase Change Cases

Eeek? I am? Where did things leak out? :) Actually there is customer who asked mountain mod to feb new case and I am working on SS that goes inside such unit. It looks practically same as what is displayed up there. I also am working with very reputable case manufacturer for speicifc case...

    Chilled water, more thoughts.

What's wrong with vapochill LCD ? :) I love cracking that one down till it can't display temp, lol :) In all seriousness though, the real advantage of Vapochill LS is the good looking case, great evaporator mounting mechanism. Performances.... well... just about all custom builders can do...

    Know of a case that is 7.5" width x 17 5/8" length..for a Mach II?

Both of them do. 65 do look more a like though :)

    Know of a case that is 7.5" width x 17 5/8" length..for a Mach II?

Actually, Glad to see you around 2Fresh... no more heatercore? :) Anyways, if you have MACH II with lian-li kit, best option is to get lian-pc 65 and slap it on. The whole MACH II lian-li kit and vapochill LS case design was done with PC6x series in mind ) And I don't think you mind littel...

    Good Core2 board for phase?

Digital PWM for? If you mean voltage regulation, I would much prefer well designed linear regulation. PWM gives good efficiecny but not the greates signal (and all PWM is digital btw :P) It's like talking about vacuum tubing vs digital IC amplification... we know which one is ultimately...

    Submersion cooling

Oils are about half as efficient (approximately) on transfering heat from what I can see vs water. Active cooling of such would be nice. As well as there might be other kind that is better than what I played with submersion. Reason on my chiller build I ended up using plate HX to increase...

    FS: New unused ATI X1900XTX

Good luck and bump for you. FYI, Paypal disputes can be long and ardeous and not quite 100% coverage most of time if you get through the dispute that is.. Just something I thought you should be aware of.

    Jinu117's SS

The black one. This one... is bit different :) NF11FX :) Bit more powerful, bit louder (vapochill like), bit more power consuming... Also, it has braided suction line... and.... LOOONG suction line. OPB asked for it so he gets it. Flex part of suction is about 6ft... looong... As I...

    Jinu117's SS

And glossy black one shall be cheaper since I get batch quote instead of single minimum order charge quote on powder coating :P NF9FX is what I am using unless otherwise requested (I am playing with NF11FX in one... sounds as loud as vapo LS on that one). About 10c better than stock Vapo LS on...

    Jinu117's SS

Some of you might remember my vapo-li line of product which puts single stage in lian-li v2000 :) I've decided take a stab at different segment of market of people who might not be interested in V2000 case or already have good case and don't want the extra cost associated with V2000 case...

is this a decent phase change unit?

Until someone test it.. no way to know. And it seems like it just isn't selling since there are not a single post of result anywhere. Pricing for triple head evap isn't bad really from what i see.... performance is always questionable as they might have ran that result in some low powered cpu...

    Weird ideas...

Ground cooled loop with Plate HX acting as condenser will enable use of r410a which is cooler obviously vs most ss units :)
  16. J

    Weird ideas...

minimum 6ft deep to 10ft deep is optimal... Now digging that deep of tranch isn't easy nor cheap. What happens is that you certainly get more consistent temperature that is cooler in general all year long :) I think it is one of the most extreme watercooling method i've seen so far :)
  17. J

Should I wait for OCZ or go with this...?

I wouldn't say my units are $300 though lol... impossible for me to build something like that... for the price :)

    Swiftech support is unbelievable

Maybe... but not responding back to customer is unacceptable. Simple as that. If they choose not to deal with customers based on whatever they think especially holding customer's asset, it is definitely liability in BBB report. How many BBB report have you filed or have been on receiving end...

R404a, Ethylene on that result. Now it has R404a and R508

    Jinu117's cascade :)

Uhmmm Customer requested cascade :P I prefer myself just using my 24x7 setup... the vapoli :) I don't bench, I just overclock my computer so I can get faster computer... :P

    what is "phase changing?"

No need to be so harsh dfi. I know you've been around longer than some and know bit more than some. To be honest, the person who asked should have done more search on his own. At the same time, no need to make him feel uncomfortable here. We just don't have to respond if we think it is not...

    Jinu117's cascade :)

Well since project is near complete I will post up here :) 1st stage: 3/4+ hp condensing unit (has low pressure cut off... will see if it works as i hope it does..:P) SLHX (shell tube thing...) Danfoss TUAE TXV... i just don't like flare if I can get away with it. External pressure...

    Please explain "Phase Change"

Would be nice... but how would you machine it is ultimate question. I guess one can get file out of hand and start biting on evap, drill bit... even router. Bottom line always comes up though... is it feasable to do it in reasonable price? Probably not. By doing it in hand on most current...

    Liquid Nitrogen

Liquid nitrogen... yes... well... let me explain a bit... it will be lengthy reading... :) When you get tank of liquid nitrogen... is it cold? No. Compressed liquid nitrogen isn't cold at all... it is just at the ambient temperature. It does get cold when it evaporates. This is basic...

Affordable ($300 or lower) phase-change found!

70dba? Well... must be talking about someone's unit as mine will never get even close to that lol. Mach II units when fan is running low is only about 36dba max (overestimation really), mine is around same, vapo LS goes tad louder (not in total noise but it's got that mechanical noisei hate)...
  29. J

    Please explain "Phase Change"

You don't want turbulance outside of evap (well bit maybe on suction but our flexible suction line tend to take care of that)... The evap is where turbulance is needed to aid in removal of heat as well as preventing pooling of refrigerant. Not an easy thing to do.
  30. J

    Please explain "Phase Change"

In our case, what you don't really want is to keep the latent heat of vaporization as long as possible :) You want it to happen in very rapid way. More violent the better. You see, evap in our case has limtied total size it can be due to mounting and insulating consideration. So we have to...

    Please explain "Phase Change"

Since you are not noob per say on this :P What you are looking into is cooling 150-170w heatload. (disregard those cpu heatload calculation people mock up... i've tested and can verify :P) R408a sounds like decent choice (I usually use R404a, R507, or R402a) considering PT chart. What I find...

    Please explain "Phase Change"

Quick run down for you. Phase change falls into 3 group really for CPU cooling at the moment 1) Waterchiller - cools water using refrigeration loop and cold water cools computer components. 2) Direct Die - could be single stage, cascade, autocascade. Evaporator (cold element) in this case...

Heh... I see what watercooling crowd went through not too long ago :P Gotta be storm or not worth it here lol. Okay... for 24x7 oc, it will cool as good as peltier or better at lower cost (you know how much peltier system properly made will cost?! I've been through it and it really isn't...
