If you're actually interested in playing with that laptop, I'd go with a cheaper cpu (t8100 is $6.51) and research how to do a fslx mod to overclock it
Should support it fine? As it turns out, I have the same motherboard heh. Not sure if mine is rev1 or what though.
Sure IPC is the same, but 32nm means less power consumption and higher clocks. I'm running 4ghz with 1.25v set via offset. No LLC so actual load volts is around 1.15vish iirc. If...
save your money and get an x5670 for $20 instead. 22x200=4400 if you can keep it cooled. otherwise, x5650/5660 are even cheaper but it'd help if you have a motherboard that can reliably use the turbo multipliers (not sure if gb can or not) if you're aiming for an aggressive overclock.
evga geforce gtx 780
I got this on craigslist a few months ago. Used it for a few weeks before getting a radeon (freesync monitor). Previous owner said he just got it as an rma and sold it NIB. Has ACX cooler.
$100 local, $120 shipped
Local is Brooklyn, NY
If SKT_OCC is required to be grounded, a pencil would suffice. Otherwise, another skt_occ point could be found on the motherboard and grounded directly there.
As far as the reserved pins, some people take the gamble and don't isolate with no ill effects. It's reported that the lands on the...
oof e5140. any chance your board supports 1600fsb?
grab an slbba x5460 for $17 on ebay. overclock to 1600fsb via bsel/fslx. Will have a screamer compared to the e5140 :)
Got this card off CL a few months ago. Last owner said it was a newly RMA'ed card. Don't think I have the packaging for it anymore, but I can look. Swapped to team red since I got a freesync monitor.

"Microsoft halts AMD Meltdown and Spectre patches after reports of unbootable PCs"
might have something to do with it
you can check which microcode you're using with hwinfo
hmm, this post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/ucode-fix-for-spectre-ht-bug-fix-and-meltdown.806451/page-4#post-10662550
seems to work on 6600k/asus z170-k though at least as far as inspectre is concerned.
edit: not sure if a subsequent reboot changed things or if it was disabling...
Vulnerable to both? Windows update should be good enough for meltdown, but spectre requires a microcode update. You can use hwinfo to check your microcode. See the post above yours to apply the microcode via windows.

EMAZ implements the power disable feature: https://www.hgst.com/sites/default/files/resources/HGST-Power-Disable-Pin-TB.pdf
credit goes to u/lakijfosda:
Just get the EMAZ drives. Either use molex-sata adapters or remove/insulate the orange 3.3v.
You could go for Made in China drives but that'd get you the inferior 128mb EFZX.
edit: are sata pins single-sided? If so, you could easily cover the 3.3v ones with nail polish for a reversible fix. Or...
Used Charter Netgear R6300v2s are pretty cheap on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NETGEAR-R6300v2-ROUTER-AC1750-Wireless-Dual-Band-802-11-ac-n-g-b-Gigabit-/253150797718
$25 shipped for pretty much the same router
Also got a Gigabyte Radeon 7970 that I picked up on Craigslist a while back. Was supposed to be fully functioning but I had some issues with Overwatch with it. Haven't played with it too much since it was going in a second rig that never ended up seeing much use.
I've put it through a few hours...
400mbps shouldn't be an issue. Maybe if they're particularly overloaded..
I only use 4 connections (out of the 50 allowed) and it's enough to saturate 120mbps down. Hell, 4 might not even be necessary.
newsdemon is a highwinds reseller (usenetserver is highwinds). They might employ some sort of qos when under high load, but otherwise should be comparable (notice they both advertise 3258+ days retention)
Retention doesn't really mean anything if you're after illegal content. Takedowns are automated nowadays, and you definitely need an automated approach (sonarr for tv shows, couchpotato for movies, etc).
Otherwise, newsdemon is a highwinds reseller and should be decent. If it doesn't meet your...
"Free Headers" is listed as an included feature
Looks like newsdemon is a highwinds reseller.
Does anyone know if they allow multiple simultaneous IPs? I have a multi-wan setup and am currently using frugalusenet without issues (at $5/mo).
