Last year for Black Friday, I realized that there wasn't really anything that I wanted, but I have been going for 7 years or so and decided I should go anyway, and make a big deal out of it. So me and a few friends got in the Best Buy line at 11:30 or so, with a table, chairs, poker chips, a...
i recently moved into a new apartment where the only "broadband" available is a sucky wireless connection. when i moved in, a guy from the ISP had to come in and set up the wep encryption key for me... i asked him if he could write down the key for me becuase i tend to reformat quite often, but...
the current arrangement is going to continue production as a sort of budget range chip, while the new 939s are going to be the top of the line stuff. but if you ask me, the 754s are still damn good and theres not a big reason to wait unless you want the real good shit.
i hate anything kind of text that deviates from the default text. heck, i say we get rid of that horizontal line and replace it with good ol fasioned ----------------------------
check out pricewatch.com. there are some motherboards listed for under $30 that support PC133. of course there are also more expensive ones, I don't really see the point in spending more than $50 for a mobo for a Duron 750.
I know what your talking about. I've seen this the most in big open games like Battlefield. But I've also always seen an accompanying flickering of the HDD LED, which leads me to believe it's my slow harddrives :)
Which gets me thinkin... Maybe I should just get the 1024 and disable my...
Memory FAQ is butchered and I couldn't find it searching, so I guess I'll ask you. I am going to be building a A64 system very soon, and I was wondering how much memory I should get? It will mainly be a gaming computer, and will most likely have dual channel capibilites. It will also most...
I miss the post count as well. As I've been browsing the forum today, my eye still looks right below every poster's name and expects to see a number... But nothing is there :(
I am about to reformat and I have a 2gig partition set aside on another drive that I plan to put a 512MB PF on. My question is this: What should I use for the cluster size? I don't plan on having anything else on there, just the paging file... I figured I should use something larger than the...

when formatting with NTFS you can chose an allocation unit size, which im guessing is the same idea as cluster sizes in fat32. you can chose values ranging from 16-4096K.
i usually wait until i can get good deals on stuff that is decently better than what i have. i used to do this every year, but now im just another broke college student so its been slightly over two years... and its driving me crazy. my system can run most games decently (2000XP, GF 4200), but...
I learned alot from reading this thread, thanks guys. I know this thread is a bit old, sorry. I am about to reformat and I have a 2gig partition set aside on another drive that I plan to put a 512MB PF on. My question is this: What should I use for the allocation unit size? I don't plan on...
ROCK!!!
I've been wanting to see some of the movies on the Horror collection for some time, looks like I finally get my chance. Plus I get bonuses like Nosferatu, House on Haunted Hill, Dementia 13... Horror movie heaven! Thanks!
argh, i was actually hoping it was the Kevin Costner movie :) That poster would have gone great on the "Wall of Shame" in the dorm room. Yup, it would have gone right next to that Care Bears poster....
its back up for $20.
i know the Dreamcast is much, much cheaper, but a modded xbox is better for emulation... not only do i have several thousand classic roms on mine, but i can also play PSX games. w00t w00t :)
the modchip for my xbox was probably the best $50 i ever spent. you can "backup" xbox games, put linux on it, and best of all, put all of your old nintendo roms on it :)
heh, if you think the Zen is like a brick, you should see my Archos Jukebox :) Its big, but it was cheap as far as mp3 players go when i bought it last year.
