Errr.. has nothing to do with DRM but everything to OS/program protection. Every application should be written to behave that way. Remember the days of w95/98, early w2k/XP when drivers, apps and games would BSOD because they would try to use memory already in use by the OS or another app. And...
Mine arrived Friday and wonders of wonders no UPS fees. Not sure why some of us Canadians are getting charged fees and others aren't. Now I have it I don't feel like installing it, such a hassle to reinstall everything.
My beef besides having not got my disk yet is... for canadians that bought OEM, the price moduslink quotes for shipping on the website is a sham. What they don't tell you is it ships UPS. So we pay $27.50 or so to moduslink for shipping and handling and when UPS comes to the door with your disk...
My so much funage here. <G> Mmmmm there's no standalone WMP 11 for vista, it's already in there. Trying to load XP's WMP 11 over top will fail. Hmmmm, Vista is just good ol' NT.... well yes and no, it's actually built from Server 2003 plus some new code. I love teh statement "compatibility...
I'm with randsom on this... I'm getting totally pissed at moduslink's continual forkups. Been coa/pop for weeks and finally get email saying I've passed all validation and they'll email when it ships and to check their site for status. Well, my status changed all right. I'ts now "order recieved"...
Runs fine for me. I haven't used XP since Vista RC1. The only real drawback I can see is for gamers and the hardware companies that are to lazy to write proper working drivers and the game houses that don't seem to be bothered to write patches for non-working games until it's released to the...
Let me guess... nforce4 nvidia lan. Seems many of us are in the same boat. Internet is fine until you dl a torrent, then it's reboot to get internet back. Oddly enough, I have no problems with torrents using RC1 (which i'm back to just for that reason). Hopefully Nvidia will get off thier asses...
I have the 50EF and it came with a cable that had since been replaced with a newer one since some had problems with spontaneous restarts with the old cable. I also dealt with Joel and within days I got a new cable in the mail. In fact they sent me 2. lol Great service.
And maybe the capacitors HAVE aged over time and they won't do their job when it goes "POP" and you'll get to see what a fried X2 and mobo look like. ;p
Well I wasn't impressed with my Trio 550. Yes before you call me a n00b I know you need a DMM to properly judge but even with software monitoring, a good PSU should be rock solid on vcore and rails. The Trio couldn't even match my old Truepower 480 in that respect. So, i'm now the proud owner of...
I was going to wait a day but I've seen enough. lol
Price: $119 Cdn ($89 would be more like it IMHO)
Build: could be better. Weighs around the same as my TP 480 give a few grams -/+.
The Good:
It didn't blow up when I turned it on.
Very quiet and doesn't get near as hot as my TP 480...
I've ordered online before but if it's out of country like from the states I get screwed by customs/shipping/brokerage fees. And with local, I can just return it, most stores carry a 1 yr warranty so they do the rma. I've rma'd before from bought online stuff and some stuff it's taken months to...
David, thanks. Guess I had the very first atx2.01 rev and they bumped it up knowing 22a was way sucky before they went to the TPII.
I'm trying the antec trio 550. I'll post after I've let it burn in a day. Course I'm running on a Asus A8N5X board so things like voltages I can't tell since...
Indeed, 22A on the 12v as my original post said. Odd it's so low for a atx 2.01 spec., you'd think at least 28A for a 480w.
Interesting side note: antec's site says my truepower 480 is 28A yet my manual and the sticker on the side of the psu says 22A.
First, I won't buy online. We don't get good deals like the USA.
I'm running an A64 3800, nv 7300GT (crappy card i know) 4 x 512 ram, 2 dvd's, 4 hd's and 4 usb ports on a antec 480 truepower (the first model that came out). While it is running, everything is on the +12v 22a rail pretty much...
Since you mention circuit city I'll assume your in the US ... there's other free progs that are just as good or better than media portal such as gbpvr that uses zap2it for epg so you'd be good to go with a 150. And if you can get it cheaper than pcalchemey, go for it.
While spinrite is no cure all like steve gibson claims, it actually has got some bad drives I've had working enough to get data off.... not dead drives mind but ones on serious failure mode. Spinrite isnt as relative in this day and age, most mfg'ers supply check utils. But it once did what...
How do you know it's MS's fault? Maybe a trojan or virus? Maybe a drive going south. You tried chkdsk but did you try repair console mode using chkdsk /r ? Assuming i'ts XP pro or W2K.
Even with a PC Power & Cooling psu, you can never get "perfect" rails. For one, the voltage going to your mobo, cpu, cards is as only good as the phase voltage regulators on motherboards, psu, and the conditions of the power through your house wiring, so a perfect rail is impossible.
Here it is.... any new news on this?
Analysts: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ramp Constrained by IBM
IBM Possibly Struggling to Fulfill the Orders

Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation said Friday NVIDIA has some issues with the ramp of NVIDIA GeForce...
As far as ATi to follow NVs 16/32fp when they put out a sm3.0 card, I doubt it. I'll bet it'll be 24/32fp since their cards are fast enough with 24fp they'd have no use for 16fp. Here in Canuckia land, x800pro are about all you can get, with a handful of GTs showing up but so far with prices...
By the time all these new titles are out (ie LOTR isn't even anywhere out of beta yet) , r500 will be near release launch so i'm waiting. As for HDR, who knows, maybe ATI r500 will have one that actually works with AA. Unless you can play at 1600x1200 you'll take a hit no matter how pretty hdr...
whoopee ... suddenly from like 5-6 titles from various sites saying sm3.0 in games, now someone saying like 12 this year. ummmm... lets see, dx90c comes august is the time frame i'm hearing, maybe sept .. any other msdn members hearing different? So, in reality, Christmas for some maybe, 2005...
The one thing I don't get is that Microsoft and anyone else down have said SM 3.0 won't increase the performance of a vid card but only makes coding shaders easier and adds some functions 2.0 doesn't have. So in that case, where is NV getting this huge performance leap from? Like c'mon, 20-30%...
Being someone thats been thru eye surgery twice for torn retinas, and yeah my sight sucks now, my opthamalic surgeon said to switch to LCD. He told me what sonic death monkey pointed out, that even though you don't see flicker over 80mhz your brain still sees it and it can still cause strain...
computerpro3, okay, that makes a bit more sense.
On a side note, are you using the comparision of the pcp&c 510 vs 550 from pcp&p site? Just wondering since whatever 550 they are comparing again it isnt the antec... ex. they say 5% reg for the 550, antec is 3%... they say the 550 is not...
I"m confused on this statement by computerpro3 " *510 REAL watts compared to 360ish REAL watts on the Antec 550." Call me wrong but do not the Antec true series supply seperate voltage to the rails? So the combined 360 is wrong. I know my 480 true power says all rails are supplied...
I'd rather Hs reviews than lets say <snicker> PCPOP.... i just love pcpop's review of the GT against the x800pro. Why they claim the GT is so fast it totally blows the pro away and from the socres they claimed it looks like it could take on the XT and Ultra. lol I think its refreshing to see a...
Until NVidia gets off its high horse and follows MS DX specs to the letter, what does it matter.... "oh gee, my geforce 6000 blows away your ati 10000" even if the ati is running dx 10 and the geforce is only dx 9.
