No, not as easy as reprovisioning it. Comcast had to send two techs out after 4 different cable modems failed to link properly. First tech was a contractor that missed the obvious..... the modems all showed a blinking link light (which means it isn’t able to negotiate a stable link). The second...
OK, I got into using i2Reader Cloud, and as always there's the good, the bad, and the ugly.
The Good: It's super easy to add book from out Calibre library of books using the Content Server under the Connect/Share option. All you have to do is start the content server, go into i2Reader >...
I didn't want this to get too far down the list, so I'm posting an update. Didn't forget about reporting back on our experiences with the app, which is i2Reader Cloud (there is another app without cloud syncing). We both bought the app and I will be messing around with it tomorrow while the wife...
The original antennas that are coming out of the cases I'm using for a MacMini [H]-ackintoshMedia PC won't make it from the card to where the antennas have to go, and I don't want anything sticking up from the back of the case(s). I also need three leads, two for WiFi and one for Bluetooth...
eBay is your friend! Found antenna assemblies including the wires there. It finally dawned on me to look there. Wasted about 6 hours sporadically searching for them every where else.
Just thought I would add this.... if you go with the 9.7" pro you can always get a Brydge Air keyboard. Much nicer than the Apple one. I have one for my iPad Air 2. The 9.7" pro and the Air 2 have the same case dimensions, so it would work.
As far as the pixel density goes you have to decide...
It seems as if the form factor is M.2, or at least that's what someone said over on Amazon. Now I have a third question.....
3.Where can I find internal antennas to fir it? And what the hell kind of connector does it use anyway?
I need antenna for fast AC wireless and bluetooth 4.0
Something...
I bought this Broadcom 802.11 AC wireless + Bluetooth card from Amazon a while back for my late 2012 rMBP and it's working beautifully with my new AC router (a Netgear Nighthawk X4 v.2), but I have a questions about it....
1.What form factor is this card?
2.Also, is this the same card...
I just might skeeder! I noticed how loud it is as soon as the CPU started heating up during the re-install of 10.5.
If I keep messing around with it I just might hook it up via my Netgear powerline networking stuff.
I finally got the system updated to 10.5.8, all the latest everything from Apple. You are absolutely correct CEpeep...... it is too slow for any video. I have determined what it can and can't do. No: youtube, soundcloud, Radiotunes.com, or DI.fm, no video playback at all. What can it do...
I was looking into a Pi 3 myself, but want to give this a go first. What the hell, ya know? My media PC is just as old & has windows, stutters & gives me gray blocks all over the screen while playing back from my NAS box. OS X is much more efficient with everything. My MacBook Pro was able to...
OK, so it's not a new one. And it's a Power PC, 2005 or 2006 with Tiger. I actually got it for case modding, but it works so I might use it as a media PC. VLC still had downloads for Power PC variants of OS X!
Anyone have any idea as to how I can expect it to perform? If it sux as bad as my...
OK, it looks like we will be going with i2reader since it supports iCloud syncing. Hell, I'll probably even start using it since it not only syncs with iCloud but you can also put books into the app directly through iTunes. We could even keep using Calibre since i2Reader & Calibre also support...
iOS version is 9.3.1, Macbook is 10.11.4, and iTunes is up to date as well. I added a test sample of about eight books to her iPhone 6s through iTunes. Once on the phone I was hoping they would sync to her iCloud account, and then to her iPad Air. Tried turning iCloud off, then on again on both...
OK, I have a crap load of books (my wife's) that she has been collecting from various sources (Kindle, Nook, AND iBooks, etc...). She had been using Calibre & the Marvin plug-in to sync them to her iPhone 6s and iPad Air, but wants to put everything into one app to read from, iBooks, especially...
That's what I though. The board is new and they don't have a download for the manual, otherwise I probably could have answered that myself.
The board looks like it takes a pretty short M.2 card Hanakuso. I was only asking because getting a small 2.5" SSD for the boot drive looks like it won't...
I'm looking at a new motherboard from ASRock, E3C236D2I, that gives the following info: (SATA0 share with M.2 connector).
Does that mean you can have an M.2 drive and SATA0 connected at the same time, or is one or the other?
Also, can you boot from and M.2 drive?
Thanks,
PG
Look for the FreeNAS Mini on Amazon. A little pricey, but it will be ready to goout of the box (or after you add drives if you get a diskless one), with ZFS.
I was aking questions about building my own NAS with and 8-core Atom (Avaton) processor from Intel. Sounds very similar to the FreeNAS...
Yeah, I figured I'd give the Apple section a try first. If there aren't many responses I'll post in the Networking section next.
Thanks for the replies munkle & Yakk.
That's what I was afraid of. I'll probably hate it too. I'm used to being able to lock down the wireless access by MAC address, assign IP's for specific devices and IP ranges for others, use Open DNS, etc...
Can anyone recommend an AC class router for use with Apple products? I'd like to stay...
Well, I'm not building an HTPC, I'm building a NAS to serve a variety of media (music & movies & pictures) to devices (Apple TV/Roku, iPads, and iPhones), and act as a file server for downloads & documentation, and possibly to run Time Machine backups to.
If I build (or maybe when) I plan on...
Been thinking about replacing my Netgear WNDR4700 router with something else (that has AC). I've been trying to find screen shots of the admin interface for the latest Airport Extreme, but haven't found any yet that are useful (most are low res and hard to read, or are for previous generations)...
I've been using Crystal (I think it was $5) for ad blocking and it has been pretty good so far. Haven't looked lately for others, but it was rated pretty high on the App Store.
Ramble on mate.... I haven't replied because I've been dealing with a fucked-up Comcast connection the last few days.
Thanks for the info rsq.... I did find some info regarding people running FreeNAS on it (finally!). It's promising. ZFS looks good as well, but not with the SuperMicro...
I'm beginning to see some info on OS's... some people are running FreeNAS, FreeBSD, etc... So it will work, but no built in RAID. Now I need to find a cost effective PCI E 2.0 x8 RAID card.
Any recommendations on OS in light of that? Remember, I need tight integration with OS X and iOS.
Well, I'm not really sure how PLEX works either. I don't know if the server portion does the decoding, or if the client does it. I am under the impression that the client does it, so an 8 core ATOM should suffice (if it works that way). iOS has a PLEX client, and there is one for Apple TV (but I...
I have a Seagate Black Armor that I got a few years ago and I want to replace it with something a bit more powerful. I'm also an ex-IT guy with a lot of server (Windows) experience. I've been looking at Qnap and Synology, and my own build. I need the following things:
1. Integration with an...
I was die hard Windows user myself since 3.1, with the same opinion of Mac. With my first iPhone (a 3Gs) I decided it was time to take a hard look at Apple. In 2012 I bought my rMBP in my sig... and shelved what I now refer to as my Dell Studio 17 "craptop".
As far as playing PC games, give...
OK... forget what I said about it not working from iOS to my rMBP. I was reading something about Air Drop on macworld.com and decided to give it another try and it DOES work!
Don't know what is different about today, other than the fact that when I originally posted thisI had an iPad Air and...
You got that right... but sometimes its the only way to see a product before you buy. I went to see the iPad Air 2 before ordering. If you deed something NOW though, it's the only way (if you have a store nearby that is). And the Apple Store app makes getting in, getting the goods, and getting...
I've only handled one in an AT&T store, with the big clunky security device attached, so I couldn't really handle it well. Even though I have smaller hands I don't think it would be a problem for me. Most of the times when I make calls I use two hands anyway... one to hold my 5S and one to tap...
Well, Apple has disappointed me on this one... air drop is available in OS 10.10 Yosemite, but only from the Macbook (or Mac anything) TO an iOS 8.1 device, not from your phone or iPad to the Mac.
Real bummer... But iCloud Photo Sharing fills the gap somewhat. I just wish I could Air Drop right...
