Yeah, this insanity has got to stop. Each year it seems fewer and fewer games come out that I actually like, so to keep paying $1000+ for just a couple games annually makes no financial sense for me!
I remember when this game came out. I saw that the minimum RAM requirement was 4MB but that 16MB was recommended. I distinctly recall thinking that there was no way a PC game would ever require 16MB RAM!
Here's a little update on the sequel and it sounds pretty ambitious!

I finally finished it over Christmas/New Years break and really enjoyed it. Overall, it ran superb for me with only one CTD over the entire game. My favorite weapon ended up being the heavy machine gun although I also liked the grenade launcher. The Cobra cannon and rocket launcher seemed harder...
Yeah, hard to get excited about something that's been in development for 10 years and is still (likely) 3 more years away!
Wake me up when it's 3 months from release and then I'll try and muster some enthusiasm.
I finished the Quarry level this past weekend and didn't notice any hitches or frame drops, although I did enjoy the sniper rifle immensely (and wished they weren't so stingy with the bullets). Furthermore, have only had one CTD right after the first level so I suppose I've been unusually lucky...
I remember the Doom 3 IHV Alpha that was allegedly leaked by ATI. Of course, it was so unoptimized and ran like crap, but I really liked the 3 levels that were included and were disappointed when they didn't make it into the final game.
For Christmas '98, my girlfriend (now wife) bought me a 4MB Diamond Monster 3D video card. I'll never forget the difference I saw the first time I fired up HL with the Glide graphics acceleration versus the onboard video. Everything looked so much better and ran so much smoother.
Hmmm...I haven't made it there yet but I'm definitely interested to see if I experience the same issue you're having. Fortunately, with the extra time off for Thanksgiving I'll hopefully be able to get in some gaming.
I'm really enjoying it and haven't had any crashes or VRAM issues. I let it auto-configure the graphics and it set it for 4K and DLSS. However, I wish that they'd had the budget to make this a AAA game, as it really could have really been great!
I really disliked the mandatory parkour in DL, so much so that I eventually just quit playing and gave up on the game. That being said, I'm interested in DL2 but am wondering if there's as much mandatory parkour in it?
IGN review of Haus DLC: "This very brief DLC offers some quality laughs, but few other reasons to revisit Hell-A."

Yeah, it's disappointing that my 3080 is already outdated for this game. Guess I might just wait until this time next year when the game is fully patched up and I can get a 5080 to play it with everything on!
Alan Wake 2 does not have Denuvo and it will NOT prevent you from running it on older/unsupported GPUs

Haha, I did the same thing. I feel there's no point in playing a game if it is just frustrating, as was Eternal with all the mantling and platforming. I used the trainer (sparingly) to get past the hard parts but otherwise played it normally. It's likewise not fun if it's too easy.
I've really enjoyed it despite missing the first installment back in 2011.
I just hope the DLC injects some stuff we haven't seen instead of more zombies, etc.
Just a warning to everyone, I got hacked this morning on Fanatical.com.
It was an unauthorized charge for $24.95 so apparently the culprit bought a game hoping I wouldn't see the transaction.
I haven't used that site since 2018 but I'm thinking someone might be illegally accessing their...
Filming began on April 1, 2021 and finished on June 22nd. I was really hoping we'd have it this year but with the reshoots in January and all the script rewrites I'm steadily losing confidence in it.

Never played the original Dead Island so I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying this. I had preconceived notions that it would be a mindless slasher like Left For Dead so I'm really digging the RPG aspects. I've only played about an hour, and just unlocked the workbench, so the real fun is...
I'm just ready for Outer Worlds 2. I hope it is being developed in parallel and that all this focus on the Spacer's Choice Edition isn't taking away resources from it!
I just figured with the Lovelace gpu they would have a "Deep Throat" version. :D
Aside from that, looks like I'll be holding onto my 3080 longer than I originally anticipated...
I've managed to squeeze in some game time over the past few days and have progressed to a couple new missions. I'm still enjoying it but thought with all the F.E.A.R. comparisons that there was a supernatural element to it like an Alma antagonist or something similar. I've yet to encounter such...
