The MSI 970 and 980 ti (gaming and lightning) seem to use the same layout Twin Frozr cooler but they are based on the same non-reference design. The hybrid MSI 980 ti, if you mean the "sea hawk" uses a reference design so I don't think the twin frozr will fit the rest of the board correctly...

Yes that’s one of them. I may have also been thinking of a German one that happens to also be a MSI 980 Ti having an issue with one of those mosfets.

There’s a Russian repair video on YouTube with one of those front mosfets needing replacement. The q502 AON7403 mosfets on the back I thought were common to burn out. I think I read some reddit threads for those going bad on EVGA cards. Interestingly the card died overnight just idle on my PC...
