U.S. issues warning to NVIDIA, urging to stop redesigning chips for China

In the end all we are doing is encouraging domestic production in China which will actually hurt more for the west in the long run.

Thinking about getting a 7900xt or xtx, but worried about my psu and coil whine problems people are reporting

7900xtx owner here. Power Color branded reference card. 850 watt seasonic ps. Only experience coil wine on Unity game menus where the devs forget to cap the frame rate. Had this same issues with my 1080Ti Asus for what it’s worth.

    Radeon RX 7800 XT Reviews

The only time I’ve encountered coil whine outside of a someone’s house having bad wiring or a shoddy power supply is when a game menu runs at an uncapped frame rate. I’ve never experienced it when actually gaming. Guess I am lucky.

Intel Core Ultra 7 155H Meteor Lake Linux benchmarks

“When taking the geometric mean of all 370 benchmark results, the Ryzen 7 7840U enjoyed a 28% lead over the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H in these Linux CPU performance benchmarks. This was all the while the Ryzen 7 7840U was delivering similar or lower power consumption than the Core Ultra 7 155H...

Steam players are reverting back to GTX 1660 graphics cards, despite Nvidia's best efforts

What does it say that more than three years after the Xbox / PS5 that ~40% of the market is using Pascal / 16XX type cards? This is Steam so this is not a normal population of PC. These are “gamers”. It doesn’t make sense intuitively that the three most populare gaming cards would be 8...

Yes absolutely. It just works. I can plug into my old receiver and done. Tried that with HDMI and had to deal with intermittent silliness with a phantom monitor

Nvidia would like to correct the record on VRAM it seems lol

We have seen multiple situations where GFX cards running the same fidelity settings with similar bench mark performance look different because one card is loading low quality textures and has pop in issues. You don’t see a big performance tank in the benchmark because the game is using low...

One day post-launch, the developers of Switch emulator Yuzu announce that Tears of the Kingdom is playable 'full speed on most hardware' with 'no hack

Nvidia would like to correct the record on VRAM it seems lol

The PS5 has 16 gb so they reserve 12 gb for the GFX gram buffer. They will optimize it to keep it under 12 but will spend their finite time making the game better rather then optimizing to keep it under 8 gb and still looking the best. Instead they will just turn down the textures to potato...

Nvidia would like to correct the record on VRAM it seems lol

100% and since it seems that cache scales better from a power and density then IO does they are trading a 32 mb cache and a 128 bit bus vs a 4 mb cache and a 256 bit bus. The 3060 ti should still have been either a 16 gb only at $400 or a 192 bit bus with 12 gb for $400. An 8 gb card that...

Scumbag ASUS: Overvolting CPUs & Screwing the Customer

AMD specs are 1.0 v and Asus was running it at 1.45 volts. How is that AMD “fault”. Should AMD be testing ASUS bios releases? I’ve owned multiple Asus prime level boards from the Sandy bridge era till the 9000 series. They wouldn’t RMA a 9000 board (Z370) with memory stability issues with all...

Why bother installing OS? AI can just simulate it for you.

I’ve been arguing internally that we need to move to more explainable models with a curated feature space. I get pushback because they explainable AI and curated feature space don’t perform as well as the model they are using and improving. My retort is that it might perform better on your...

Trade my coil whiny Asus TUF 4090 against a silent MSI TRIO X 4090?

I’ve had friends with “bad coin whine”. I’m three circumstances it was a bargain basement or bad power supply that was the cause. Swapping a power supply fixed the issue. In one case it was a house with electrical wiring issue with dirty power. Moving the computer to an outlet that was on its...

    4090 Reviews are up.

Can anyone point me to the VESA DisplayPort 2.1 specs? As far as I can tell VESA has not published any purposed specifications for DP 2.1 I am wondering if wires were crossed and HDMI 2.1 is being confused with DP 2.1. Hopefully Navi31 will have DP2.0.

This is a topic that exposes peoples fanboy team. :) The last rebrand / refresh that I can think of is the RX-480 / 580 / 590. I mean perhaps you could say that the 1070 TI which was essentially just a 1080 with GDDR5 instead of GDDR5X. Some of the super cards in the 20 series could be just...

New 5900X rig suddenly running sluggish (need help identifying & solving)

Memtest64 is a fairly easy to use tool to check the ram. Another safe way to check the ram is to set it to stock speeds 2166 and see if the errors go away. After reading the thread I am pretty sure eventually you will need a clean install of windows.

GPU MSRP is Not Meaningless @ HardOCP.com

What I don’t know is how close is the MSRP is to the BOM. One of the things we have heard is that it is “impossible” to sell at MSRP because the BoM cost is too close to the MSRP for the AIB to make their margins. We have no way of knowing if this is true or not. MLiD has done some reporting...

Google loses patent case against Sonos, will remove features from Nest and Chromecast products

    i7 7700k to i7 12700k worth it ?

100% don’t need windows 11 for 12th gen. It runs just fine on windows 10. Their are compatibility issues with some older denovo games. You can work around this with most motherboards by disabling E-cores. Don’t need DDR5 either. Buy a DDR4 board and an 12600k or 12700k if you want to stay with...
