If you have a powerful enough GPU I don't think it matters much at all. I have a MG279Q paired with a GTX 1080 and I don't notice any tearing at all but I am usually over 144 FPS.

Slim gaming laptops don't work all that well because the heat sinks are to small to dissipate heat effectively.

If not sure about spending money of the extreme version you probably do not need it. 6700K is a pretty big upgrade from 2600K if you are just gaming.
