I have burn in on mine. I'm not even sure what it is from. It might be a screen defect or a hot component behind the screen. I'm stumped.

I think the majority of people's brains will tune out the fringing within a couple weeks. When the DW first came out there were many posts about how the fringing magically got better after a couple weeks of use. I can't see it any more unless I really get my eyes right up to the screen. That...
I crossed the 1500 hour mark on my monitor (I got the panel refresh pop up). I'm still happy with my purchase but now I have one gripe: I have a retro computing device (a MEGA65) that outputs a 720 x 480 signal over HDMI. The AW has no problem with this, but it stretches it to 16x9. There does...
My guess is that it has something to do with a static charge that is generated by moving the chair back, getting out of it, and walking away. The charge is going through the floor and into cables that are somehow connected back to the system. My PC was doing this for years until I recently moved...
Try disabling g-sync. It might be VRR flicker. It often rears its head in loading screens and menus where the framerate is bouncing all over the place.
Probably not if you don't have any complaints about your black levels. HDR is great on this monitor but HDR as a whole is still hit or miss depending on the game etc. IMHO, black levels are the reason to get this monitor. Horror games and space sims are so much better on this thing than an IPS...
I'm curious too. The AW3423DW has two fans right? We know that one fan for sure is for the g-sync module. The 2nd fan could be a supplemental fan because of the excess heat the module releases and it will no longer be needed, or it could be purely another form of burn in protection and will be...
Oh yeah - that is a good point. I just learned the other day that the color space will go back to sRGB if you toggle in and out of HDR mode (alt + win + b). That's a little slower than fumbling around with the OSD, but less wear and tear on the joystick. I usually just turn the monitor off at...
On the wake up after refresh topic - I've had so many of these now that I've lost track of what works and what doesn't. I have a July 2022 Rev A01 build with M0B102 firmware. I shut down my PC last night and the screen did a pixel refresh and then went into standby. It turned on by itself when I...
Yeah, it makes no sense at all, but that is how it works. It'll count all those hours overnight against the big panel refresh too. When eco mode is on it works as expected and only counts "on" hours against refreshes. It's best to just leave Eco on unless it is causing you other problems. I...
So one thing I have noticed is that with Eco on (which is how it should be), the monitor doesn't really go into deeper standby for at least 10-15 minutes even though the LED is pulsing white. You can tell by sticking your head to the left side of the monitor to see if the g-sync fan is still...
That's good. How long did you wait between the end of the refresh and waking it back up? I'm just curious if that behavior will still stick if you let it go into standby overnight after the pixel refresh drops it into standby. Let us know if you find out one way or the other. Thank you!
That is sickening. I'm sorry. Based off of stories like these I've been hearing, I would never RMA my monitor down the road just to get a new firmware. Seems way too risky.
That's a great question. We can only guess. My guess is that Dell either got a window of exclusivity or they effectively engineered a period of exclusivity via the number of panels they ordered with a contractual supply by date or something.
I'll have to go digging later for clips, but I saw some obvious scenarios in a video review for the AW. One of them was muzzle flashes in a FPS. Another was Shadow of the Tomb raider IIRC. The reviewer was demonstrating ABL by looking into a dark cave entrance and then slowly moving the view...
Dell is so messed up. I have an RMA cross ship order from July 14th that is still in production with a September 19th ship date. I tried calling to see if someone could get it shipped out to me since people are getting orders within a week now. They just keep repeating that they have supply...
Yeah there is no noticeable ABL in SDR which is one of my favorite things about this monitor. There will be ABL with HDR 1000 in certain scenarios. It's going to be a game by game type deal. A lot of the times the ABL isn't going to be that noticeable, but there are definitely going to be times...
Both are great so it really depends on your primary use cases and what tradeoffs / idiosyncrasies you want to deal with. I personally think the AW is the better desktop usage monitor since there is no noticeable ABL in SDR mode. It also acts like a monitor when your computer goes into sleep and...
One thing I'll add to the
Brightness of 40-45 seems pretty good for me in SDR anyway. I do need to adjust my brain a little every time I play an HDR game.
Having had 3 of these I will say this is true, but I have yet to have one that I can't hear from where I am sitting. I'm not saying yours isn't effectively silent either. The one I have now is pretty quiet but I can still hear it when I am using my laptop.
If folks really want to gauge how loud...
One thing I've noticed is everyone has their computer on their desk. Well duh... your run of the mill AIO pump 2 feet from your head is going to drown it out.
I can see a little bit of flicker on my AW but I’m not sure if it is the brightness dip or the temporal dithering that I am noticing. I am pretty much able to tune it out as it’s nothing compared to the CRT days.
Yeah, I wonder if it gets stuck in the wrong timer behavior somehow when switching back to eco for some folks. I'd suggest people try a factory reset which will dump them back into eco mode and then leave it for awhile.
I think this is only true if ECO mode is off but I’m not 100% sure. It seems to be that way with the 4 hour refreshes anyway. Example: with eco mode on if It does a pixel refresh at the end of the day it will want to do one immediately when I wake it in the morning. With Eco on it does not do...
Oh no! Yeah definitely try a panel refresh. I have a couple questions for you if you don't mind: 1) What brightness are you running at and are you running in HDR on all the time? 2) Have you been turning it off / letting it go into standby every 4 hours or so so it can do the short pixel...
This panel does unfortunately actively flicker black areas of the screen as just part of the tech. I'm assuming this is to deal with near black overshoot. However, g-sync also inherently flickers blacks. Try turning off g-sync and see if it fixes what you are noticing.
