Does keeping Hyper Threading enabled make any sense for home systems? Especially on AL/RL CPUs...

Hyper Threading splits core in to two threads and each thread has the same performance as without HT if second thread remains unused. When such second thread being used then each thread on given core can get around 60-70% performance of single thread. This is what of course leads to overall...

Disabling Speedstep as the solution to Windows 10 and Alder/Raptor Lake e-core related performance issues?

Windows 11 always uses faster clocked cores first. This behavior I presume is unchanged from how Windows 10 does it. Now e-cores have lower clocks than p-cores so how is it that Windows 10 has issues correctly scheduling game threads on p-cores? Answer I came out with is: Windows 10 does not...

Forcing AF (Anisotropic Filtering) does not work on AMD cards...

Apparently you cannot force 16x AF on AMD card on any newer game than ones using DirectX 9 Is there any workaround for that other than selling Radeon and getting GeForce where such basic features are implemented correctly?

    LG 27GP950 160Hz 4K HDMI 2.1

So at the beginning of this year I found out review of LG 27GN950 and it seemed like almost perfect monitor minus no real HDR (well, it can be eye soaring bright but that looks like all it can do and even this not so much with HDR600 ;) ) and more importantly HDMI 2.1. So I waited for successor...

Silicon vs Germanium Vacuum tube audio amplifier

During Christmas I was visiting my parents and had interesting talk with my dad. He claimed germanium transistors do have "transistor sound" it is different and overall sound somewhat closer to vacuum tubes in that they sound softer and more natural because of different voltages they start to...

    Ray-Tracing and multi-GPU

In theory Ray-Tracing should be perfect for multi-GPU configurations with ability to scale well with SFR (Single Frame Rendering). Like original 3dfx cards where each GPU drew consecutive lines here RTX cards would calculate part of necessary rays on per-ray basis - which would translate to...

FastSync can remove 1 frame of input lag in some games compared to V-Sync OFF

Tested FastSync and RTSS at 1fps and at least in DX9 ganes loose 1 frame of input lag. This is easily visible, after frame I would move mouse and game would have certain frames of delay before input would be registered. DX9 games on UE3 would behave this way as some other DX9 games and games...

    Ageia PhysX and Windows 10

I wonder if PhysX works on Windows 10 It still probably makes more sense to install separate Windows 7 without Nvidia PhysX enabled for those few games that works only on Ageia... What is your experience with this? And is it worth to use PhysX for games which use both PPU and GPU PhysX? Anyway...
