Already have the same one in my system, this is broken from December, thought I can fix it for a friend - I know it will work temporarily if I hold the CPU manually, need to jerry-rig some shit to make it stick.
I think this was wobbly when it was working but actually snapped when I decided to take the socket apart, not from the pressure itself. It was so loose that sneezing would turn the PC off due to the CPU losing contact.
Will try, hoping for the best. If it is fixed it goes in my friend's ryzen...
I mounted the cooler way too tight on my MSI x370 Carbon motherboard and it resulted in the CPU losing contact with the pins in its default mounted state.
To resolve this, I opened up the mounting mechanism and realized a piece of the plastic was broken.
I am attaching pictures of how the...
Can't wait for Coffee lake to happen, all these high core ryzens make me so tempted to get a high core system ( i don't need it at all )
Can't really afford to change mobo/ram/cpu but a 450$ CAD 6 -core isn't too bad if it fits in my z170
I think on a high refresh rate monitor, it might not even matter and you could grab a 1080 and call it a day.
You would have to look deep into freesync to know that, I really don't have much knowledge of the subject
Let's say that I have 7700k & 16GB DDR4 @ 3200 Mhz and all I do is play Dota & Overwatch >> I see a slick deal on a used 2600K + Mobo + Ram Combo for 1/3 the price I'd be able to sell my current hardware for.
Wouldn't it be so smart for me to get that kit and save on a month's grocery? There...
Nano is 64 i think, but lower clocks and tdp limited. A 56 might as well outperform it when it has thermal headroom (290 oc vs 290x) - which could also be an option for you to buy with freesync @ 399
my 1080 does 4k @ 40fps on the worst titles, which is ok for me, I'd prefer it over 1440p @ 80fps any day...
I will gladly wait and look at your review if freesync can really make those 40s seem like non-freesync 60s?
Wait 2 weeks for benchmarks, they are also going to launch a Nano version of it which will fit in your power envelope. I wouldnt wanna pay a big premium for it though..
I have a 4k Monitor with with freesync + 1080, i would love to get a card with freesync but that would match it but would I trade it for a rx 580??? Hell naw
Also freesynch on a high FPS game like overwatch or dota on 4k would probably make it unplayable with the insane input lag it can cause...
but if I am making 100$ a month for free, why should I care about any of that? or anyone who's making money from it
Let's say the steel industry uses a lot of power in factories (more than small countries) - how is that a waste? Should we stop producing steel?
Mining - probably one of the most interesting things of this decade.
I don't understand when people call it a waste of energy though, you are making $s - how is that a waste?
290 was on par with 770? was this actually a time? AFAIK 7950 > 770
290 is almost as good as a gtx 970 when it came out, it was released as a "titan killer"
My favorite GPU made by amd so far
I don't think Nvidia needs to do anything at all, there is nothing to counter. They can just release the next gen as they planned to. I was really hoping for a good card this time, so I can take advantage of my freesync monitor..
This seems the biggest failure to me since bulldozer, trade blows with 1080 (best case scenario) for same price and 2x power consumption and 1 year later.
I loved my r9 290 but looks like they really don't give a fuck about their GPU division anymore.
Is there a way to show my overclock in system properties & task manager?
Monitoring software shows it but i'd like to see it everywhere, its neat.
It's a BCLK overclock with stock 27x multiplier btw, on i5 6400
Amazing videocard, couldn't be happier with it. I guess the i5 is a little bottleneck but I can only see that when benchmarking AAA games.
Hopefully the new 6core intel coffee lake works on z170 and i will upgrade someday.
Thanks for all the advice in this thread, got a good product...
So, I ended up getting a 980ti used which didnt work properly (EVGA) and they were amazing with the warranty service and sent me a 1080 SC! 7 days from me sending the card and receiving it back, holy shit this company is simply the best.
Now the question is, will a 4.7ghz i5 bottleneck this
Anyone expecting 1080ti seems like a delusional fanboy to me. It's sad they prioritized CPU over GPU for so long when they already had a big player in the market when they acquired ATI.
Another question - This person has told me his card clocks to 1450 Max, EVGA SC one.
If i slap an AIO on this, it will surely go to 1500, won't it? Can't seem to find anecdotal evidence but I know for sure EVGA coolers are the warmest of the bunch and that might limit the clocks.
I am strongly leaning towards the 980ti used now, it is going to cost me about half of a 1080, seems like a no-brainer.
Might delid my i5-6400 too finally
I have a CPU Cooler Corsair H60 lying around, as far as I know there were cheap brackets that would allow these coolers to be mounted on Nvidia GPUs. I'l look into that.
Even without it, you said it comes close to a 1080 if OCed? Is that really the case, I had an impression it's slightly behind...
What I am buying this for is 4k @ 45fps-ish on some games that I like, I think this card should be able to do it on High / Very High settings. Just had a H60 lying around so if i could use it to get an extra 5% perf out of this while being quiet, it would be really worth it for me.
There is no...
Want to upgrade my r9 290, I see some good deals on non-ref 980tis here in Canada.
It would be atleast $150 cheaper than a new 1070 + tax
Is it worth it?
Also, I have a spare H60 Hydro lying around, i would love to use it on the 980ti and overclock it to the absolute limits but I can't find...
The 6 core thing is amazing- hopefully it will work on good ol z170 boards,
Was so tempted to see the 1600x and 1700x - nice to have mainstream ones from intel too.
Looks like a reaction to Ryzen, which is good
I already have 2x4 2800 Mhz G Skill Ripjaws 4 on my Z170m Plus.
Any harm in getting 2 more sticks of 4GB (not the same brand probably) @ 2800mhz or is there a strong reason to get new 2x8s and try to sell my current 2x4s?
I read somewhere it can affect my CPU overclock (more stress on memory...
