Their still on Rev A01 and have blacklight bleeding issues. I don't think they really care about fixing or reducing the backlight bleeding. If you talk to their tech support about it, they say that as long as the middle of the monitor is uniform, it falls within their specs.
Mine was worse...
^ I see you've got an Embody chair. I tried one for a few hours at a friend's house and didn't really like the shoulder support for it. Do you have any issues with this chair?
That thin line is likely a component defect and it'll probably get worse over time (more lines). It usually has to do with something not in its operating temperature. As the monitor temperature changes the component falls out of / gets back into its operating temperature and you see that line...
The tech preview for Win9 is supposed to be out within a couple of weeks. It supports upto 8k and they re-did the icons and other UI elements, so it should look pretty good on 4k monitors. Hopefully they have a sliding scale for dpi rather than the large 25% jumps that 8.1 has.
This is probably similar to the Dell 32" 4K, which has a bunch of issues.
- Sometimes left / right sides of the MST turn off for a couple of seconds
- Monitor doesn't wake up after sleeping. Need to unplug power and plug it back in
- Random multicolored lines appearing on the left and right...
Yeah, most likely a MST panel. Most 4k+ panels seem to be MST. I've got a 4k Dell and can occasionally see the left / right stream as there is a distinct line running down the middle of the monitor.
The problem really isn't with the cables, but scaling with 4k monitors. Windows 8.1 can do it, but it's not perfected yet. I have a 32" 4K Dell at work and I don't really like it at all. I prefer 1600p monitors until Windows starts doing a better job at 4k scaling.
If you're concerned with color reproduction, don't get the FS2333. It's a 16.7 million color monitor. I had it and ended up returning it. Get a 1.07 billion color monitor. The difference is very noticeable.
I have a XFX Radeon R9 290 (December 2013). Whenever I'm playing a video in MPC-HC the temperature spikes to 85-90C. The spikes are especially noticeable when clicking on random parts of the video timeline rather than playing something constantly.
It looks like the GPU will shutdown Windows...
For a monitor? 55" would hurt your neck.
27-30" is the ideal size for a desktop monitor. The resolution is high because they want to make it similar to the macbook retina displays where you can't see any pixels up close.
How did you verify they were doing this? I think most shops have stipulations with the manufacturers to send returns to the manufacturer or sell returned products as 'open-box' items.
The next evolution in this is probably a curved display with freesync/gsync support in Q1 2015. I'm probably going to wait for that before buying as I usually stay with the same monitor for 4-5 years. Would suck to get this one around the end of this year, only to have the freesync monitors come...
Here's what 3 of these curved LG monitors will look like.
Also, I would like to see someone make an ultra thin bezel monitor. The monitor controls can be put on the back. Something like this would look awesome.
The current 4k's aren't really worth the price. If you really want to try one, get the 32" Sharp that Apple's online store sells as they pay for return shipping if you want a refund.
Yeah, Dell is pretty good with returns. Although, I suppose amazon will eventually be carrying this and they also pay for return shipping if you want to return the monitor due to issues like backlight bleeding.
Anyone using Windows 8 with this monitor using displayport? When you turn the monitor off/on, does it re-arrange the windows to a default location? It would've been good if they included a DVI port as displayport can have some issues like that.
So for something like a Radeon R9 290, there would be no difference in the video output between a 10 bit monitor like the U3014 and a 8 bit + FRC monitor like the LG?
I'm using Windows 8.1 with an ATI R9 290. I have a Dell U3014 connected as the primary monitor using displayport and a Sony TV connected as the secondary monitor using a DVI-To-HDMI cable.
When I power off the Dell, Windows automatically moves all the open windows that were on the primary to...
Anyone used both this LG monitor and a Dell U3014? Is the color reproduction on the LG as good as the Dell? I'm wondering if there's any notable difference between the Dell's real 10 bit panel and LG's 8 bit + FRC to achieve it's 1.07B colours.
Yeah, it's ridiculous that these companies like LG and Dell charge $1000 - $1600 for their premium monitors and don't even bother with trying to fix/minimize basic issues like backlight bleeding.
When did you get your monitor? I was reading earlier that LG was holding back stock of this monitor to fix some issues, which is why these monitors aren't widely available yet. Maybe reducing the severity of the backlight bleeding is one of the things they're fixing as I haven't seen any other...
Does it look that bad in person or is it the camera making it look worse? You should try getting a replacement and see if you have better luck with that one for backlight bleeding.
It is backlight bleed. The IPS glow being involved makes a bit more visible when you're sitting at your desk.
If it wasn't backlight bleed, then standing 20-25 feet away from the monitor wouldn't show the white areas in the bottom corners. The top corners are fine.
If you're using this...
I don't know if these LG's have backlight bleeding issues, but the Dell U3014 definitely has a big problem with it. Even the latest Dell rev (a04) still has severe backlight bleeding. I'm going to return mine and get something else. If it wasn't for the backlight bleeding, the U3014 would be a...
