Marketing fucks should all be shot. They have no accountability for their actions and continue to invade every possible niche of our lives like goddamn cockroaches. No respect, at all, ever, for such a horrific profession.
I would like to hear the official nvda response to the obvious consensus that they have been milking the same design for over 18 months. The fact you can buy a 9800 GX2 ANYWHERE and at less than the $600 launch price just a few days ago is very telling. Now the "GTX" is more of the same if not...
When people say head tracking they are referring to rotation, not translation. Finding a face in an image is nothing new, and the over the shoulder view near the end really demonstrates the horrific latency as well.
How can you possibly have any remotely "scientific" study about mac users without addressing marketing? The only advertisements you see for a PC as some sort of platform are the slide rule and bong hit ads apple puts out themselves, which actually are apple vs microsoft not "PC".
I also...
I like how they count 6 bit color sub pixels as 18 bit color depth.
Resolution is bad, color depth is bad, and I bet you can plainly see the pixel structure too. Still not even close.
While not an "owner" I was a renter (thank god):
I played through the story missions of SR, and found it overall to be a buggy mess along with massive framerate issues and tearing (at 720p anyways, I'm sure 480p/i is better). Uncountable pop-up/fade-in problems, including being stuck waiting...
A half a dozen current games with little to no advantage and two future games with the promise of finally utilizing the dual-core chips people have been running for a year+ now doesn't make much of a case for quad-core anytime soon.
Both cards are the exact same make and model? It could be the driver is confused because it has two of the same device ids and manufacturer ids. You could try deleting all traces of the cards from the various controlset keys in the registry to get it to redetect them together.
You need to get your terms clarified a bit. This link should help

ATIs pages specifies that the x1300 chip can drive this display:
"Dual integrated DVI transmitters (one dual-link + one single-link)"...
I have two triple monitor setups (for the wife and I), and am using 9250s at 1920x1200 on 2405s. Nice cards, no issues, even with an nvidia primary card on one machine, both drivers are happy. I did try an FX5200 with a 6800U thinking I should stay on the same driver as was mentioned, but that...
The big distinction I see is a "movement" vs an "aiming" emphisis in FPS games. You could move extremely well in the original quake, even more so than the later versions. Due to the rocket/grenade jumping as mentioned, as well as the physics "errors", and just the flat out fast as hell...
Here you can see the ~8" long x 1" deep IR LED array that is used for the source reference for the Wii controller:
No one has any issues with sticking this big ass dongle to the front of any TV the Wii works with? Yes it can sense where the controller is within some window, and that is how...
You guys are missing the point. I don't run an LCD because I am a moron and don't understand what refresh rate is. The problem is what is state of the art right now, and what are an individuals requirements. If I could buy 3 1920x1200 120Hz SED displays that consumed 100W total to replace my...
I would like to see some comments about vsync/triple buffering performance in future reviews. The tearing is significantly more noticable on LCDs and tends to proived horrible image quality. Particularly in darker games with muzzle flashes that use DX since tripple buffering is a pain in the...
DDR2 on AMD platforms is going to be as shortlived as it was on high end videocards. It's a stopgap move to provide offerings until DDR3 is a viable platform solution. A decent DDR buy now could very well last you till DDR3 which should likely last for a while just as it is in the GPU add in...
I use power now on a dual 252 K8WE box and the rightmark clock util on a 170 a8n-sli box.
The tyan works flawlessly, however there is overhead related to the switching. If a task is not constant 100% load and throtles up and down a good bit then the overhead causes it to be a few % slower...
It's so sad seeing all these threads full of crappy slow riced out boxes with cold cathodes and glitter being refered to as "modded" or "modified". People used to modify PCs to make them faster, not shinny and sparkly.
Is there anyone that still reads these forums that follows the "form...
Brent I hope in your review you address some quality issues. Namely vsync and triple buffering. A high quality image not only has AA and AF and looks good in a screenshot, but doesn't have tearing when in motion.
I can hear a faint squeal from my 512s when they load data if I have my ear near them. It is extremely high pitched and nothing at all to do with the cooler. My guess would be strain on the power supply circuitry when there are massive amounts of IO on the card. Such as loading texture data...
You are wasting your time at 1024x768, in order to get above the CPU limit you need to raise the resolution or quality levels. For example some testing I did on a 252 setup (they run at 2.6).
single card
1024x768 10,083
1920x1200 7,049
single card 4XMSAA 8XAF (inapp settings)

I've got a dead one here that says it won't. Was in my wife's machine running only a P4 3.4 northwood, a single 6800U, and 3 HDs. That model is an overrated undercooled POS unlike most other antecs which are great, but damn they are quiet! :) Mine is dead quiet now, repalced with a PCP&C...
Can't remember the model, it was a Soltek i845 board I think. I added the 5 bit dip switch for manual VID control as mATX boards never have shit for voltage options.
If you own computers, you should also own an air compressor. Pays for itself after a few uses, as canned "air" is extremely expensive and the tree huggers will protest on your lawn if you use it too much. You can never get rid of that petulie oil stench, so you're really better off with the...
I was thinking back on an old box I am currently putting some bottom of the barrel stuff in to give to my mother in-law, and was thinking back about how sweet a little LAN box it was. It's been sitting in my garbage heap for a while, but I remembered how much I loved this little box back in the...
Suprised you didn't mention any vsync issues with AFR rendering mode in SLI. Is this fixed in 81.85 or what? Are you seeing any other graphical problems in SLI not evident in a single card?
An old dual PSU shock hazard in a supermicro 350A. The top power cord ended up being bent so hard it shorted out making the case ground hot intermittently, not to mention I had to cut the over mold down so far to get the top back on.
EDIT: Just noticed, yes that is an ancient original...
I hear you, but no one that actually cares about performance has bought an intel chip in a couple years, and there's no hope in sight on intel's roadmap until calendar '07. Perhaps if Dell could demonstrate a mindless market for the multi-licensed chipsets AMD would follow (law)suit.
It's...
This whole platform specific motherboard bullshit has to end now. There is no legitimate reason that each competitors dual card solution cannot run on any dual slot motherboard. If the childish crap doesn't end now they will both be shooting each other in the foot eventually, albeit ati sooner...
Just another attempt by a megacorp to violate individuals privacy and collect demographic information for directed marketing campaigns. How's about a big steamy bowl of shit pudding for the marketing asshole who green lighted that one.
