Yes, we do. Everyone uses usb devices, but few are willing to dig through the cable mess on the back every time.
This discussion exist in every case design thread. Just check the others and spare yourself the trouble of this argument.
Why the overly complicated design?
Do something simple and call it a day - no risers, no overheating drives, easier cooling with front mounted huge fan, should be less than 6 liters.
Maybe there's no point to design 95% same case as Dondan's A4.
If indeed you are interested in "as small as possible", you may take a look at:
500W Platinum FSP FlexATX PSU - powerful smaller PSU
R9 Nano - shorter than ITX-length GPU's
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but L3 is same size as L1. With enough space for two-slot card, but only single slot card is supported. And there are smaller vented areas on top and bottom, so previous setup with two/four fans will not be working now. How is that the best from L1 and L2?
There are quite many fanless NUC cases nowadays with all kinds of options: Akasa, Impactics, TranquilPC, etc.
I cannot imagine, why would anyone buy this plastic ripoff.
Your info is a bit outdated: the high end is i5-4250U (4th gen NUC). It's Haswell dual core + HT up to 2.6MHz with HD Graphics 5000. It has hardware accelerated 4k support.
How about the reversed GPU? Is it an option/default for any/both of the designs?
Looks like the GPU can be moved a bit down, potentially reducing the extender length.
So much space wasted in the STX version. I'd prefer the default one - either original layout and DC board or if reversed GPU is confirmed with short GPU + naked SFX.
That's some interesting news. Looking forward for you new designs :)
Is it possible to flip the GPU with no so expensive risers, if the GPU is low profile? A DC board can be fit over the GPU (behind MB), even HDPlex 250W. Smallest possible case :)
Thanks for you interest. I guess this is not very popular feature. It even didn't make it in NCase M1, despite of Lian Li being a case manufacturer and possibly have everything about it.
But I think the smaller a case gets, feature like that will be more needed.
Size should be as small as possible for me. Check the NCase steam-box - huge one.
Please consider shorter video cards instead of going full size. There are now too many ITX sized (17cm long) cards, so a volume reducing can be easily achieved.
ITX MB wins every time over mATX.
Internal PSU is...
Because of the external brick and the combined price brick+hdplex. And if you're thinking outside of US, the price will grow even more.
Also I don't like to work outside of specs. You cannot be sure that each and every HDplex 250W will do 420W. Same with the Dell AC adapter.
Wow, I would've bought this case in a blink a few years back. Chieftec had only single expansion slot ITX cases for so long. Now I'm looking at much smaller volumes.
Thanks for the second 2.5" drive :)
I'm not familiar with Lian-Li cases, so I didn't recognize the mounting.
But I think my bad English led to a little misunderstanding. I was talking about the mounting plate. Is this the only thing that holds the video card in place? As the A4 case will...
Thank you, I think it's the best solution to have a choice.
But now as my interest in this case is growing, I have some more questions :)
1. Is there enough space for a second 2.5" drive behind the front panel? Looking at the renders - there should be. Or at least a little modification of...
