Are there no quality mics that would just use an existing sound card vs USB? That's still the direction I want to go with. I know the AE-7's Controller is crap which is why I don't even have it hooked up. I want the mic and headset/headphones connected to the AE-7.

I'll be honest... I have always been a fan of the Astros or at least how they look. But I've always been turned off by the mic. Not only do I think the mic sounds slightly muffled but have also seen a lot of complaints about the mic drooping (over time) with the way it's plugged in vs permanent.

Well I know adding a budget is usually expected so that of course the highest I would be willing to spend, but always nice to be able to keep it below that. And I prefer to not get 2 seperate pieces of hardware. Nothing new/newer out that would fit the bill?

Appreciate the reply. I was kinda of thinking it odd that an overheat could happen so fast. If the system was rebooting on it's own with that issue, it would make more sense. I guess I will have to keep my fingers crossed, as I am at least a yr away from being able to swing a new build.

So I have an old system (low income)... Maximus Formula 1 motherboard and just recently, on every single boot... I get Southbridge overheat detected. But I can hit F1 Resume and load right in a no issues aside from that. Can a Southbridge overheat in the 20 seconds or so it takes to get to that...

Oh and I have a QX9650 running at stock 3.0 along with an R9 390 Gaming Edition with 8GB. I am able to load in and play with mostly everything at very low, except I have AA on very high and view distance at low. Runs good with occasional memory lag but able to play for the most part and get kills.

Did some research and I believe my issue could be bad onboard sound. Problem is ya can't get into bios to disable... wonder where the chip is... if I could figure that out, could desoulder it

Updated bios and still stuck at bios post. Tried removing 2 of 4 sticks of ram, tried with 1 stick of ram, tried moving the video card to another slot, tried with no sound card and tried with no hdd attached.

It didn't just stop working. I just put it together and fired it up for the first time. I was told a few months ago to get a Xeon for this board and it might need a bios update to work. So I'm not sure if the bios showing the name and speed means it recognizes the cpu or if that means nothing...
