I am pretty much in the same boat as you and have been looking at the Elite 130, 250D, SG08, and a few others. This just came up: the Antec ISK600, but my google fu shows no reviews except for a couple on newegg.
Are there any hacks to get around CCC to ignore the reported size? Wiping my EDID seems kind of dicey. At this point I think I would rather just go through the RMA process.
I have 3 HP ZR24W's, but one of them is reporting that its size is 25.3", and therefore I can't use bezel compensation. I've looked at powerstrip and moninfo, but I am a noob and can't figure out how to override the current settings and set it to 24" manually. Is there a way that I can do...
I will be getting 3 HP ZR24W's to go with a 6870. The HP's come with a DP -> DP cable, but the only connectors on the 6870 are mini DP.
Do I:
Get a adapter dongle DP-> mini DP
or
Just get a brand new cable that has DP -> miniDP
?
It seems like a DP -> miniDP cable costs $5-$6, but the...
If this is for a business, might as well just get this:
i5-2500+U2211H+4GB for only $499 via SD via Dell
**edit**
Fail, didn't read the whole post. Not sure if it has a PCI slot.
You really don't need a 2600k from your stated needs, save the $100 and go with a 2500k
Why not go with the z68 chipset?
RAM: you will not see any measurable performance gain with faster RAM.
SSD: consider the m4, its a great deal, but if you must, I would recommend a Vertex 3
Terrible PSU and...
I really don't think the 990x makes sense:
Here is why
For a 1/3rd the price, you get pretty much all the performance.
**edit**
Sample build that will get you 98% of the way there, except for zip compression/decompression, x264 pass 2 encoding
2600k $315
mobo $150
16 GB Ram $150
Total: $645...
I think you would be better off with the CPU mobo i posted earlier:
2500k + Z68A-D3H $330
It's 5 dollars less, you get a faster CPU, and you gain the ability to OC if you want in the future. You also get quick sync with the z68 chipset.
If you can swing a 2500k build, here is a similar comparison of the 955 vs 2500k
It will be about $50-$100 more depending on what components you choose.
**edit**
Gave it a brief try:
i5 2500k + Gigabyte Z68A-D3H-B3 $330
Corsair Vengeance 8 GB $75 AC EMCKEHF23
Corsair CX500 v2 500W $60 - $20...
Depending on what they like, you could go the opposite direction:
Fractal R3
Silverstone FT03
Sometimes simplicity sells :) Then wow them with an SSD and a large monitor, or tri monitor eyefinity setup.
Can't post a new thread in the deals forum, so I thought I would share it here:

Hope I didn't violate any rules :x
Along with tony and danny, I recently just bought a DSLR, and my friend phrased it well I thought. Figure out what you want to do first, then buy to meet those requirements. Once you figure out the hardware that meets those requirements, check your budget. If your budget can't afford to meet...
i3's are not overclockable. The only CPU's you can OC are the 2500k and 2600k. Then, having either of those 2 CPU's, you must have a P67 chipset, or the Z68 that is coming out soon.
**edit**
also of note, you can't use the IGP with a P67 chipset, so you would have to buy a discrete video card.
i3 2100 $125
ASRock H61 $60
Sapphire 5850 $140
Samsung F3 1TB $65
Antec Earthwatts 430w$45
G.Skill 2x2 GB $40
LIAN LI Lancool PC $70
Samsung DVDR $20
Total: $565
I don't know anything about wireless adapters, so I will let somebody else chime in on that one. You lose the ability to overclock...
Let's give this a go and see how close we can get:
2500k + ASUS P8P67 Pro $330
Sapphire 5850 $140
Samsung F3 1TB $65
Antec Earthwatts 430w$45
G.Skill 2x2 GB $40
LIAN LI Lancool PC $70
Samsung DVDR $20
Oi, $710 with no wireless adapter before shipping... You could always go the i3 route? I'll...
I would slightly rephrase that:
If you are not a professional driver you can't enjoy a good car.
If you are not a professional chef you can't enjoy good food.
Therefore,
If you are not a professional photographer, you can't enjoy an IPS panel.
However, it does become a matter of cost...
NCX was providing some pretty persuasive arguments, but looking at this:
5ms G2G LG.Display e-IPS
2ms G2G TN Film (Trace Free setting = 80)
Seems like the ZR24W is a pretty solid performer, with all the other benefits, I think the largest factor in a purchasing decision may come down to...
Any reason why you want the Sabertooth? If gaming is not a large priority, do you ever plan on going SLI? You could save yourself a good deal of money on the motherboard.
For stability, I would probably recommend either the Intel 320 or 510 series of drives for your SSD. No need for the...
Are the contrast/blacks mediocre as compared to a 24" $200 TN panel? If not, at what price point do the TN panel's become competitive in this regard?
While I have read many of the horror stories associated with the 2410, isn't that more a result of poor QA and strict manufacturing tolerances...
Poor contrast and black's compared to other IPS panel's, or compared to TN panel's? As far as I am aware, IPS panel's contrast > TN panels as noted here. (See what I did there?)
While I will agree that that the ZR24 is probably not for the hardcore gamer, I think the other attributes give it...
Because he tried to engage you in a reasonable discourse over and over again. Granted, he did use some amount of hyperbole, but who doesn't? While he has gotten frustrated over time and his hyperbole has increased, he is still attempting to give you a logical, rationale debate in which many...
I would just like to say, garbagemule has been AMAZINGLY respectful towards you SXTC, has been gracious, kind, and patient beyond belief.
You are making generalized comments, which are marginalizing the needs of others. Case in point: Usage on my personal computer at home is probably 60% web...

SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze 520W $80
