When did the old days end?
Last mouse I bought was a logitech... like.. g70s - I honestly do not remember at all - for $60 on sale in like 2012. It started to die a couple months before the free manufacture's warranty expired, and logitech sent me the g700s for free, no questions asked. So I...
In some offices keyboard noise is okay, in others it's not - I'd encourage you to not stress so much. Most people aren't mindful of their noise levels, and considering you are, you might be just saddling yourself with too much stress/anxiety. Anyways,
My answer pretty much combines the previous...
I've never used anything above 60 Hz, but my whole life I haven't liked 30 Hz. And I notice 60 Hz very much on cinematic games that I'd like to play, to the point that I've set some games aside until I upgrade. But yeah 60 is fine for most games I like.
I'd say I notice lower Hz on Tv's less -...
1. You should be able to - maybe some video cards don't support this, I've never had a problem. However, I bet your HDMI output will max out at 24 Hz (possibly 30) at 4k. You probably won't like it.
2. I've never used DVI lol, But I don't think it supports high refresh rates at high resolutions...
Can't believe I missed your post! I wanted something to compare to. That is very interesting. Perhaps Blender wasn't using your additional CPU's? (In 2005 you had to set that option manually haha!)

dual channel ram instead of quad, if that matters, lots of background programs

in line with expectations I suppose
interesting/fun thread!
Ya'll are right about the Amazon reviews. But if there's 50+ reviews I think it's still a good indicator of how many units die (1-star) vs how many units don't die (5-stars). I've had good experiences buying things below 3.5 stars, but I always do additional research. IMO, more detailed reviews...
Imo best thing to do is just look at the star rating on a site like Amazon. Crucial's mx series and the 850 are comparable. I've done lots of research, and cheaper drives generally break down much more often. Not worth the risk, imo.
There are 2 aspects to warranties though - years and Total...
I've had a couple of the crucial mx series about 3 years ago, and a 2 or 3 samsung evo series. Never had problems between them, use them all the time... never benchmarked them either. IIRC, speed is supposed to be comparable, but Samsung would win at transferring lots of small files.
The...
TBTH, with the games you listed, buy any card that costs more than $250. I'm avid gamer/developer. I have an r9 390, and it slays LoL and Blizzard games.
I have 2 of these:
BenQ BL3201PH 32" Widescreen LED Backlit LCD IPS BL3201PH
I play overwatch on 4k set to Ultra. I haven't measured the...
lol so this forum kind of sucks in that I can't reply to 80% of the threads that I want to reply to.
Anyways, in [hot deals] everyone seems to agree that TLC is always inferior to MLC. However, the Crucial MX200 and BX200 have far higher TBW ratings than similarly priced MLCs on the market...
I could be mistaken, but I think RAM speed will really only affect your loadtimes. Like in Skyrim when you walk into a building, or when you first launch a game. Basically, how long it takes to copy data off your HD to memory.
I went with 32 GB of fast ram recently at $250, which I thought was...
Hitting the 50s C is just how it works. Electricity dissipates heat.
The 3 degree value might mean while idling. Under load though you're going to get into the 50s and probably even high 60s. The original xbox's ran around 65-75 iirc. You don't have to worry much until you're hitting the 90s imo.
If I wanted a small workhorse I would go for one of these:

They are rebranded Clevo laptop models. The genericness might worry you, but pro-star support is terrific, and...
