Yeah, I'm going to pull the trigger on this or the LE bundle on the Creative site that's at $430 (includes the E-MU XM7 Speakers) - trying to decide if those speakers are worth it or not.
I snagged it after seeing the OP -- impulse buy, was moving toward a used/clearance 980 TI for low 300's to hold me over but whatever. I'll post back what I get on an OC to see if there's anything to what you guys said above.
I'm glad to see HT isn't strictly needed -- was starting to regret cheaping out on the 4670. Good to see Haswell showing its muscle as well after the mostly negative reception it received at launch.
^^ It would. I don't understand his logic either.
Their experience mimic'd mine -- very hitchy with craptastic minimums on my 680. I'm chalking it up to the beta.
Everyone that keeps hammering the "AMD never said it would be the 15th" is rather amusing as pretty much everyone expected it to be 15th based on the leaked slides. I find it hard to believe that a majority of you didn't wake up Tuesday morning looking for reviews.
I'm having a hard time justifying a ≈25% more FPS increase for $650 (≈$400 after selling the 680). If the 680 had more VRAM it would be a no brainer to go SLI -- just have to see what it does in the games you play. Plus, at this point if I haven't jumped on the 780 yet there's...
I'm in the same boat -- waiting for BF4 retail benches to come out and will make a decision then. Hopefully 2 GB is sufficient for 1440P, in which case I'll pick up a used reference 680. If not, will look at the R9's as well as the the 780's if they drop the price. Gonna be tough to settle...
Rig in my sig (1900x1200) -- on Ultra, HBAO, Post AA High, MSAA None, Motion Blur off I'm getting mid 50's on average. Doesn't go much below 50, and not much above 60.
Same settings but MSAA x2, and I take a 15-20 fps hit across the board.
I believe the 5870 is comparable to the 480, so...
This thread is silly. If you got the cash have at it, if not then don't. Two cards are generally more of a pain in the ass than one card -- if you just want to play the damn games with little issues then stick with one card.
If you're bored, or like the nerd status of having $1,000 worth...
You need a quad bud -- I had your exact chip OC'd for Bad Company 2 and went to the 9550 and it was night and day. Hard to justify $200 for a S775 quad though, you might as well pick a 2500K with the Asrock mobo and 8gb of ram that everyone and their brother gets around here for around...
Yeah, at load on the stock cooler I have to ramp the fan up to 65-70% to keep the temps under 90°C and it gets annoying.
Like I said, I'll just swap the cases and see what BF3 really requires. If it needs two cards I'll pick up a couple of 6950's since this board will only do Crossfire. The...
Hmmm, maybe the cooler isn't the route to go -- seems like it could be a pain in the ass. Meh.
Maybe I'll just try the new case and see what I think, and then look at either a 570/580 or maybe crossfire since I believe this board will do it.
Thanks guys!
I'll try to keep this short and sweet -- my rig is in my sig, and it's currently housed in an Antec P180. Needless to say, I have a furnace that is loud and annoying and I'm sick of it. An architecture change isn't in the cards for me right now (mobo, cpu, ram, etc.), so I need to stick with...
Hey all,
Looking for a portable device that can mainly be used in the kitchen to bring up recipes and whatnot. Internet access is required, and the ability to view pdf's and webpages.
Not sure if the Kindle is capable of this? I see it has some sort of browser but not sure if it would...
With regard to BC2, you guys might try setting your render ahead option to 0 instead of the default 2. That really helped my GPU usage in game, from around 50-60% to 85+ all of the time.
I also cranked the AA to 32x, so I'm sure that's influencing it as well.
I upgraded my E8400 recently to a second hand 9550, and I'm very happy with it. Put a nice little OC on it and she can keep up with 480 pretty well. My trial run in Vantage got around 21,700 with the 480 at stock clocks, which I think is respectable.
