I’ve got lots of smaller drives, but only two 2tb ones and it’ll be nice to consolidate some of them. This isn’t much more expensive than buying an old 2tb says ssd off eBay! Granted, those have much higher endurance ratings! But I’ve found that I really don’t end up writing all that much...
Even better (although I can't imagine that there are actually any of these out there!), the 3090 Ti is clearanced for $879.99
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3090-ti-titanium-and-black/6502626.p?skuId=6502626
Just got a mail from eBay letting me know that it's dropped to $49.99 now.
I'm not sure what the other sizes have been, but they also seem to have dropped. The 240 is $44.99, the 360 is $49.99 and the 420 is $74.49. Plus shipping of course.
Be careful with that one! It’s not a prime deal; it’s sold from the UK! As long as you don’t mind needing to find a US power adapter for it (or you’re just going to shuck it) then it’s a great deal.
5000 series (other than the g APUs) come with a voucher for the PC port of Uncharted now, which strangely enough comes out one day before raptor lake does.
I had been expecting BestBuy to put Nvidia cards on Totaltech a while back. What sucks is that $200 for someone scalping a few cards wouldn't mean anything, whereas if you're just trying to get one card for yourself it really sucks. =(
Some cards have shown up at BestBuy off and on this morning, but I've just gotten stuck in an infinite `Verify Your Account' loop (that is, hit the `Add to Cart' button, wait, get the `Verify Your Account' and then get stuck back waiting...) for all the cards I saw. Same thing on Chrome, Edge...
Good luck to everyone that made it on a Step-Up queue! I really wish I'd put down a notify for a FTW3 3080 queue, I have a feeling that all 3080s will be discontinued before my black edition 3080 queue spot comes up...
A $40 card doesn't bother me, it's the thought of buying a 3070 or 3080 and stepping up where tax could easily be $60 or more. Granted, that's still way better than scalper prices.
I was excited about the idea of being able to step-up since I really want at least a 3080 and if I can get one by also just getting any lower end card and stepping up, but the downside is that they don't count the tax you paid on the original card as what you paid for it! Although I guess if...
I did have that loaded, so that definitely could be it. It's so nice to see the queue time though, especially since it was in the 16-30 minute range today, but it's certainly not worth it if it means that they just dump you back on the queue again...
I was waiting on the 3080 Ti queue and got to the `Verify your account' phase, but instead of adding it to my cart it just kicked me back to the queue. =( And now it just sold out.
I managed to get on the queue of a few of the FE cards, but every time I got to the `Verify Your Account' phase I got an error when trying to add the card to my card, which I assume meant that they had already sold out. =( At least it provided a certain amount of entertainment for the 45...
I never saw an add to cart, it went straight from coming soon to sold out. But I wasn’t checking the bundles they had; those might have been available.
I'm now on my lowest end `backup' card in my desktop system. Sold my 2080ti almost a year ago now. Still had a 1080ti, 970 and a 1030 at that point. Ended up selling the 1080ti and the 970 in between, but had to keep at least the 1030 so that I could still use my 4K display!
I managed to...
I was excited about the queue system when I found out, but I only signed up for a notification on the 3080 Black Edition on the day of release (9/17). the queue opened on 9/16 and hasn’t moved past then though. 🙁 i was hoping that the 3080 ti would be my chance, but the damned thing is almost...
ATi 3D Rage Pro (Xpert@Play). All my friends at the time bought NVidia Riva 128’s, but I liked ATi (my previous card was a PCI Mach64), it had twice the memory (8MB vs 4MB) and TV out. What a bad decision! The Riva wiped the floor with it and ATi’s drivers were terrible, not to mention that it...
I've had a couple of these and they're nice little systems and they are fanless.
The CPU is based on the Excavator core, so it is pre-Zen, but it is quad core and has AVX2 instructions. And only 16.1W (although I never did check it with a power meter).
One thing to be aware of though is that...
I thought that the X570 was the only chipset that ASMedia _didn't_ make:
https://www.techpowerup.com/251964/asmedia-to-continue-as-chipset-supplier-to-amd-but-x570-an-in-house-chipset
That's what makes all of this absolute horsepucky. All of these chipsets are basically the same damned...
Well, I sent a message to the seller asking if they'd do an exchange for one with more endurance left. I figure it couldn't hurt to ask, since an extra 6+PB of writes could mean quite a few years of extra life and I was thinking about eventually moving it over to one of my servers where it...
What have most people's drives come like? I just got mine today and installed it and there's around 9PB of writes to it, so only 54.39% remaining! It seemed like most people's had over 80% life left.
Granted, 54% life left of 20PB is still over 10PB of writes, but it's still kind-of a bummer.
Well, he upped the base price to $249.99, but is accepting offers again. I tried the other day at $190 and was declined, then again today at $200 and it was auto-accepted. It sucks that he took off the `make offer' button yesterday when 5% eBay Bucks was still active, but oh well. =(
Trying to clean up my office a bit and found a bunch of somewhat older parts that it's unlikely I'll ever actually get around to using. =) Prices are shipped to the continental US. If you're somewhere else then I'll be happy to work something out.
An impulse buy back when 6-core chips were...
Seems like I'm just asking for trouble, but just in case I ordered a set. The other things that they've got on sale look reasonably (if not somewhat over-) priced. The charge just went through on my credit card though.
Crap. Look at the second picture on that listing. 4GB DDR3-1600 SO-DIMM...
They’ve bumped the price of their 850w power supplies too. Up $30 since yesterday.
Amazingly I had a diy configurator build in my cart with the old prices and discount, and I was able to complete the order when the card came back in stock! The only bummer is that it was the 1080 ti sc black...
I thought I was going to throw something through my wall trying to get into the service menu when I first got mine until I read exactly that. The problem is that when you turn off the TV with the power button it takes a minute or so for it to actually turn off. So just wait a bit (or maybe...
I just happened on the slickdeals post myself yesterday and ended up getting one. When I saw it none of my local walmarts had them for $169 (they were all $249 or more), so I figured I'd wait. Well, I checked about a half an hour later and one of the stores had updated their price! Managed to...
