In a retail world this is sometimes the best approach. Who knows where you will be working next week and this stuff goes away.
And I hope this isn't the shift in their pricing model. These are typically the $120 chip in the Winter/Summer deals so maybe this midstream pricing is a blip.
I read this somewhere else and it I didn't even think of this. I think it is a decent approach even if they are losing money on the chips they sell in the deals.
It's been mentioned but the ASRock boards seem to be highly rated. I have a Z97 ASRock board and have been really happy with it. I have an Asus H97 board that doesn't want to play nicely with Windows 10, however.
Which one are you leaning towards?
You and me both. I thought if they brought back the 5930K I might jump. Hopefully they announce a week early like they usually do so I can really ponder it. I don't think I will jump on a 6700k if they go that route again. I can't go back to 4 cores, I just can't!
I am perfectly happy going in twice a month and staying at Master. I just haven't created a routine to do the Legend activities on a regular basis. The price difference isn't huge but I should for the other benefits like having the entire store available when new products become available.

We are within one verification period of the suspected winter deal dates so I say it is time to start this thread again.
At the end of the Summer 2016 thread there was speculation as to what might be on the deal; m.2? 6 core? same things?
I won't prognosticate but I will root for the 6800k or...
In my initial non-expert opinion I didn't really have anything to say on this because my boxes are in another room where it is cooler and not a lot of foot traffic in the house. Even then they are in a white box server so the fans never even let their noise get through during setup on the bench...
Well that's just drop dead tempting. I have the 4tb version of this drive and everything they say is true; it's hotter, but very fast. Curious as to if anyone else like these like I do. Good deal it seems.
I couldn't concentrate on what he was talking about when I couldn't determine if he actually wore his jacket inside out, or that I want to never go outside again because that jacket was designed that way.
I hope you understand why I forgot about Broadwell :D Haswell-E is going to be a big deal now that I am reading and remembering what is to be expected. I guess I start saving now.
I really want all the other case manufacturers would step it up in this manner. I loved the CM 690 II Advanced and thought it was worth the money at the time. But then CoolerMaster just didn't make any good cases. Antec did the same. Corsair, Fractal Design, and a couple others came and ate...
I haven't been checking the site each day but I will have to say that might be the quickest I have seen them sell out. With that being said, I don't believe I have seen them restock. :(
It wasn't until recently the my R7000 started to become stable again with firmware updates. And no, I didn't do DD-WRT or any other custom firmware because I simply don't want to fiddle with it. I bought mine for $89 on the Walmart snafu earlier this year and have no reason to upgrade, but for...
Yeah, that is where I was confused. I almost started to look for a NAS with that chip to see how much a beast like that would cost. But you built it as a NAS so now I understand and your comment makes so much more sense.
I definitely saw the difference between hyperthreaded 4 and 6 cores when encoding the same content. What type of threading/workloads are you talking about with a NAS that would overcome a desktop chip?
Breaking Bad is the best television series I have ever watched. I should buy the BluRay set so that when Netflix drops it on streaming I am not up a creek.
The last required learnings are up today. I am also surprised the store hasn't been updated at all. That might also be updated on the 10th when they go on sale.
So far 4790k or 6700k being the mainstream with the 6700k just being really nice if offered. The 5930k will almost definitely be the high end offering again, though. They haven't included ssd's for a while but I would jump on a 750 like crazy.
Endlesszeal makes a good point. I haven't watched the trend historically but it could be another 4790k and 5930k. I am hoping the 6700k only because it has been out a while now a 4790k is last gen. I don't know if they would sell many other than people reselling them.
This looks like the same deal page that I am used to. At least it looks the same.
Retail employees whose place of business is on the partner list for Intel. With the right amount of participation you can get Intel products for a discounted price.
It's about that time of year again where we speculate and begin builds for what we think might be going up on the deal this year. I say every year I don't know if I am going to build something and then end up doing it anyway.
For those who aren't sure what this is or if they qualify etc. go...
